Title: Hire a car or use taxis?
Post by: claire on April 04, 2009, 11:02:17 PM
Hi,

I''ve read some of the taxi - related posts in here and don''t want to inflame some people''s obviously strong feelings on this subject if I can help it, but just wanted a bit of advice if poss?

We''re staying at the Fidanka in Kisla for two weeks and had been under the impression that we could get a cab to one of the beach clubs who would reimburse the taxi fares.  I''m unsure if this is still the case or not?  We were also hoping to go to Kalkan most evenings to eat, drink and shop (say 4 evenings per week).  We were planning to walk there some evenings (not many if I''m honest), but get a cab back.  We are also planning on going to Kas, and perhaps one or two other places, and had thought we''d be able to get a bus / dolmus.

After reading some of the taxi - related posts I''m not particularly keen on using them if I can help it and am wondering if hiring a small car, perhaps for one week, might be more cost effective.  I''m not a drinker - I''d be happy to leave that to the evenings we spend at the Fidanka.  I understand that parking isn''t too clever, and petrol is expensive, but car hire isn''t too dear and I wondered on balance if it might be cheaper and easier in the long run?

Would welcome your thoughts and advice.

Thanks, Claire.
