Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if people could help with a bit of a survey for how you get to Kalkan... Please could you reply on this thread
- What Airport you fly from and when, eg Manchester, July
- How many are usually in your party
- How much your ticket costs on average
Thanks very much
Jon

Ok
I''ll start it off.
We normally travel April, May and September from Gatwick
There are 2-4 of us depending on college/school.
The average cost of our tickets is £150 each.
-
Gatwick / june
2 of us
£150 each average
-
Gatwick
2 - 4 of us (depends and school hols and whether the kids have a better offer!)
£150 average.
-
Originally my wife and I, from Manchester,£245 each, Monarch good flight times. Now our son is coming with us he paid £325 also 6th July. Why are flights from Manchester so much dearer.
-
Hi Jon,
This year:-
May, 4 people £200 each Jet2.com
July, 4 people £150 each Aegean
September, 2 people £84 each Easyjet
All from Manchester but would book Liverpool too if prices were cheap enough.
-
We fly from Manchester in April, June and October. There are usually 3 or 4 of us.
This year we paid about £150 return for each flight with Onur, last year it was £70 for June and October and £80 for April. Our flights have always more or less been on time, I don''t know if we have just been lucky.
-
Birmingham - September by myself
Averages between £195-£260 depending on when I can book
I''d book from another airport but as I don''t drive that would mean extra on coach or train plus Birmingham is a 10 min taxi ride from my house.
-
Thanks for the information from everyone so far, its really helping build up a picture :)

2 of us, June and September from East mids, Birmingham or Gatwick [flight times and cost depending]
2008 - Onur Air -June and Sept from East Mids £90pp for both dates
[Sept 9 hour delay going out 4 coming back!! June- 2 hour delay both ways]
2009 - Onur Air -June from East Mids £130pp
Easyjet - Sept from Gatwick £85pp
We plan not to use Onur again next year [will have to put up with them in June] and hope that Easyjet will provide a better service, fingers crossed.
-
We fly from Belfast in May £240 with TC, July £156 with Onur and September with TC £246.We paid £50 from Belfast to Manchester and £346 from Manchester to Dalaman for New Year in Kalkan. Last Year we paid £350 each in July with TC, It''s not easy to get cheap flights from Belfast at any time :(
-
23rd - 30th March, me an im. Stanstead. Thomas Cook £333.96
13th May - 3rd June, me an im again, Gatwick. EasyJet £370.91
We haven''t booked for September yet.
Bristol is nearer and much more convenient but more expensive. Gatwick is a bit of a potch to drive up to.
Yesterday I looked at flights for 10 days for 2 clients 5th - 15th Sept and it was £200 cheaper to go from Gatwick than Bristol.
This was the same when I looked for 4 adults and 1 child, Bristol, 3rd/4th April for one week. Cheapest I could get was £350 each. Maybe that''s because they come back at Easter??
It will be interesting to see the result of this survey.
-
I''m a single traveller from either East Midlands or Birmingham. In 2008 I flew in May (package deal), September (package deal), early November and end of December when the average price of flights was around £150 because of the time of year.
-
Flying from Manchester Aug 17 - 31 this summer with Thompson
Cost £350 each
Two of us booked but may get flights later for a couple of our teenagers to join us when they know what their plans are
Can''t wait it is our first time!
-
April, 2pax £116 rtn Onur Gatwick
Sept, 4 pax £136 rtn Onur Out Bournemouth/return Gatwick
-
We fly from Manchester, always choose good daytime flights in July, last year there were 9 of us and we paid £250 each with Monarch, this year there are 7 of us and we paid £230 each with Thomas Cook. Would prefer Monarch, but flights were about £300 each this year.
It''s so annoying when I always see the Gatwick flights so much cheaper than Manchester.
-
From Manchester end of May, 14 nights, just over £250 each with Jet2 which was the cheapest. I have not flown with them before but joined their "club" as you earn points against the cost of future flights and some of their other flights during the season seem very reasonable.
I agree with the other comments that it is galling that flights from Gatwick are so much cheaper.

We travel from Gatwick (3 hrs away) if we come over in April, early May otherwise we fly via Birmingham (1 hr away) - either Onur or Thomas Cook. An average of £150 each (2 of us). Have always been disappointed with Thomas Cook, for the few times we have used Onur they are about average - seriously thinking about going via Turkish Airlines next time.
-
Gatwick to Dalaman - early June - £125 each!
(But not going to Kalakan )
-
Booked a few now (but should have tried earlier with the exception of Easyjet) Manchester March T.Cook £140, May T Cook £240, August Easyjet £90, New Year T Cook £250

July 4th till Aug 29th from Manchester Kibris Turkish Airlines, X2 £215.00 pp
Aug 1st till Aug 29th from Manchester Kibris Turkish Airlines, X1 £225.00
-
Usually two of us - this year four!!!
Manchester - Dalaman late June for 18 days, £150 each, Onur
-
At the end of this month for two of us just booked Gatwick - Dalaman on Easyjet at 150.00 each one way i.e a total of 300.00. Last year through Aegean Flights we got two return flights each from Gatwick for travel in Apr/Jun and Sep/Oct for the same amount. A very big increase year on year!!
-
From Gatwick x 2 booked last year with Aegean
April-May = £251 in total
Sept-Oct = £251 in total
Dec-Jan Not booked so far this year, 2008/2009 with Thomas Cook passengers x 2 approx £560 in total.
-
Easyjet are doing a 25%off promo!! Hooooooray!!....or not? i checked my flight the day before the promo and since then it increased £12 after promo!!glad i booked early(£129....now £308each)sometimes these things aren''t as they seem!! ::)
-
This Sept we''re flying from Edinburgh with flyglobespan for £220 each - cheapest I could find. Last year flights were £250 ish, once flying from Glasgow with Thomas Cook, and then Easyjet, Edinburgh - Gatwick - Dalaman and back. We''re spending less on flights this year
-
This year May(half term week) £180 return per person x 2 Kibris
August 3rd- 17th £190 return per person x 2 Aegean
both from Gatwick.
last year May half term £220 return per person x 2 Aegean from Gatwick
August 17th - 31st £350. return per person x2 !! Thomas Cook from Stansted
October 3rd - 10th £70 return per person x 1 Aegean from Gatwick
-
June about 170 quid; August with Ros and grandchild about 300 each. Usually Onur and we''ve never been disappointed so far, touch wood! Monarch though in August. We''re about half an hour/40 mins from Gatwick. Although I can see the rationale behind charging full fares for children i.e. they''re taking up a paying seat, it still doesn''t feel right somehow. We are tied to school holidays and therefore have never had a bargain. We usually pay between £250-£280pp for a flight from Newcastle. This is in May, July and October with eithor Onur or TC. Awful flight times too. Last year I booked well in advance with Aegean flights for May 08 and got a slightly better price of £190. Just my luck I was ill and had to cancel.
We have just paid £320pp for May 09 because I can''t bear the risk of waiting to see if the price drops.
p.s. just peeped at the site and it''s now £360pp.
-
For next year you could try booking with Easyjet, on the morning the flights are released.
This year we booked for Easter at £70 return and some friends who are coming out to stay with us in August got flights for £100, a bit annoying as we booked months earlier with Onur at £150 for the usual awful times.

Alan

Does easyjet do Newcastle flights
-
Or East Midlands or Birmingham...? :)
-
No, but they are starting Manchester to Dalaman flights in August.
The cheap flights only last a day or two so you have to be quick, this year I was fortunate enough to get a tip off from a post on this site.

Alan
