Title: BBC programme on Turkey 8/2/09
Post by: Enişte on February 09, 2009, 09:48:20 AM
Any comments on last night''s programme?  It was always going to be difficult to produce a worthwhile programme on such a huge and diverse country in just one hour, but I still thought most of it was drivel and was annoyed that I had only yesterday afternoon renewed my TV licence.  Interested to know when the next pig or bear hunts will be arranged in the Kalkan area!

Hi
I thought the programme was good, but I noticed they only portrayed one side of the arguments ( i.e. the dam). This was no doubt because the covered too many topics in one hour, and so could not do any of them justice?
Still, I liked the programme and was glad I managed to stay awake to watch it! Anyone who missed it can see it on BBC2 online.

It was a strange programme. Given that Turkey has myriad diversity to offer, it seems a shame that my lasting memory of the programme will be of the rather disturbing relationship between a man and his bear.
