Reading the Saturday Telegraph on the way home via Istanbul last weekend, the Travel section specifically recommended Kalkan and Kas as places for Brits to visit next year too....so maybe there''s hope for this coming year''s season. Hope so.
-
I also read an article confirming this with an expected 30 - 40% increase in holiday bookings so it could be a busy season this year........as a tourist not sure if that''s a good thing......but I guess it will be for the business comunity and alll those fat cat villa owners.....LOL :) :) :)
-
Being humble apartment-owners rather than villa-owners, we clearly don''t qualify as fat cats - however, I can confirm that enquiries & confirmed bookings for our apartments are well up on this time last year, and last year was our best year so far ... so it''s looking good for 2009!
-
Is it a double edged sword.....I love the resort when its not mobbed and I''m sure it will lose some of its charm if the streets are rammed every night......and without being contentious what type of tourists will it bring.... 18-30''s and alike ?????
Still thinking of buying though if I can find the right plot of land...........I''ll just build a high wall around to keep the oiks out........LOL

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows a link to the report in the "Saturday Telegraph" ?
I have looked at the Telegraph''s website but cant find the write up ?

Is this the one? Not sure I like the term "Costa del Kasbah"! This article mentions "Dalman" but not Kalkan or Kas, so I''''ll keep searching too.....

Only our wonderful press can say things like that. They are complete T***s. I thought journalists were intelligent.

Hi Eniste,
Thats the one I was looking for.....thanks

That''s the article I read! :)

Yes misty, it does appear to be a tad foregone, if it''s cheaper on the ''costa del kasbah'' than Spain or Greece, then I think we know what it''ll be like here soon.
When it was exclusive to Tapestry ok, but now with Thomas Cook packages and an abundance of cheap villas and apartments all outdoing each other to get business and none too fussy who they accomodate, perhaps we will begin to see a change, Oh well it couldn''t have lasted forever could it
