Title: Caster Sugar
Post by: Joules on December 19, 2008, 07:16:58 AM
Does anyone know where I can buy caster sugar? Tried all the usual suspects with no luck.

You can''t get it anywhere in Turkey but if you place granulated sugar  (which you can buy in any of the supermarkets) in a blender, and whizz it for about 30 seconds you get ''almost'' caster sugar which works perfectly in all recipes even meringues and can be used for dusting things such as mince pies. You might need to experiment with the timing as you can overblend and get icing sugar by mistake but it''s usually foolproof.

Hi Lantana,

So will blending granulated white sugar for about a minute produce icing sugar? - Mrs rat wants me to ice her Christmas cake.

You need    Seker poudre  [icing sugar] which is available everywhere
