Being new to this game - wondered if it is normal to receive a bill for water by a man just driving up to the house and passing a bit of paper to my husband and leaving!!! what if we wern''t there?
also does 2400ytl sound a lot for a water bill? it is a 5 bed villa with pool - but still looks high to me, anyone can help
Thanks
-
The only way we can answer your question is to know the period to which the bill applies. It may be that the bill has not been paid for a long time and as well as water useage, you have incurred fines for non-payment but on the face of it, it sounds a lot.

It is also normal for them just to drive up and hand the bill to someone. If no one was there to receive previous bills, and you do not have a box outside your gate to put them in, then it is likely that the amount represents past bills + interest, as Lantana says.

I am assuming the period must be from purchase last october, as this is the first one I have had. It might help if I knew what it said:
Any help on

This seems a big bill but not sure how big your pool is or the garden area is. Don''t know if the villa was complete before this date, this will be the only bill or there would be an amount in the eski borc .
It is probable correct.
-
thanks for that, the villa was compete before this date and from memory the pool was filled in December, the pool is quite large and there are gardens and planting, and with a fairly busy occupancy I suppose it must be correct, - I don''t suppose you know if you can pay on line or has Kalakn council offices not quite got that far yet? and any idea on fine for late payment.
-
No you have to pay in person or get some one to do it for you, some one you can trust maybe your management company fine is a percentage not sure how much
-
you have been very helpful hoca - one more question one part of the bill says sarfuyal which you have transcribes as expenses - what might these be?
-
Hi edisrag,
A very high water bill can also be a pool that is leaking :(
Kind regards

I am paying mine today so will try to find out, it is possible that the decimal point is in the wrong place i have known this happen before
-
that would be fab, also % of fine, as my managing agent seems very slow at the moment in responding, and I have heard of a few that have gone under, and would prefer to pay the fine than transfer this money and loose it. Will be out next month and can sort then.
-
edisrag
The fine is realtively small but the problem is that you can only pay during fixed periods, so even if you are out next month, you may not be able to sort it out and will therefore incur more fines.

The bit I was not sure about refers to the amount of water you have used in your case 823 metric tonnes.
I would say that the filling of the pool is in with that ammount or it has a leak, But even then my bill is 9Ytl for 10 tonnes plus tax.

One of my neighbors in Kas had a 1500 £ water bill. The problem was when there was no water in the pipes wind was blowing in the system and the water meter was running fast. Now we have a valve or something like that that take the air out of the water pipes.

Hi
Does anybody know if I can take own reading of water meter to the Belediye for payment?
Thanks
-
Unfortunately No - the reading has to be done by a Belediye official who then produces a computer generated bill. You must then pay your bill within the prescribed period, which is given on the bill. This is usually about 10 - 14 days after you have received the bill. If you do not pay a bill on time or miss apayment, a small fine is incurred. The longer you leave bills unpaid, the higher the fines.
Whenever you pay your bill you will be given a receipt which you should keep. Our most recent bill (10 days ago) when not watering the garden for several months was 24 TL, the previous bill was 260TL .

Thanks Will for the info, the reason I am asking is because we have a lock on our gate, and our neighbours who looked after our house used to let the meter readers in and pay the bills for us.Sadly they have had to go to live in Ankara due to health reasons, so our meters have not been read for a while,we our due out on the 21st march so that is why I was wondering if this was possible!
