Title: 1st time in Kalkan
Post by: howellc1981 on August 27, 2008, 05:49:25 PM
Hi all,

It''ll be our first time in Kalkan, we''re going end of this week (can''t wait!!) looks absolutely gorgeous. Just wondered though if anyone knew if it was easy to get to Olu Deniz from there, reason being we''re staying for  a week in Kalkan then thought we''d go to Olu Deniz for a second week, we weren''t really thinking about hiring a car thought we could get a taxi or maybe get the dolmus.

Could anyone help us out with this please.

Thanks

Yes we did a split centre last year, week in Kalkan week in Oul just over 1 hr transfer we went by private hire car  with driver Adda or the like would transfer you at a better rate.

You can get the midi bus (every hour-ish), from the Kalkan Otogar at the top of the village to Fethiye Otogar. (Think it was 8 or 9YTL per person.) Then there is a bus that runs to Olu, either from the Fethiye Otogar itself or from the road right outside it. Not sure what that costs but not very much.
There is also the option a couple of times a day, to take the big bus for next to or, nothing more. Best bet is to ask at the Ototgar and they will advise you.

Great thanks, do you think they would let us on with suitcases though?

Oh Yes. Both kinds of buses have storage underneath them but, obviously the big bus has a lot more and is more comfortable to travel in. Also, it is a little bit quicker by big bus as it does not get the local traffic as a rule, whereas, the midi bus seems to stop every few minutes between Kalkan and Kinik.
The downside with the big bus is that there are only a couple a day, early and late.
