The "topless" topic has made me think of other differences/things that we can point out that might help visiters who have not been to Turkey before.
The first time we came to Turkey, we arrived in the early hours of the morning, absolutely shattered and were woken up after just a couple of hours sleep by the Muezzins via the loudspeakers from the local Mosques. Now the regular 5 times a day broadcasts mark the time for us when we are on holiday and help with the feeling of "being on holiday".
The way Turkish men openly kiss, holding hands and walk arm in arm with each other can also raise eyebrows, if you are not expecting to see this kind of behaviour.
Any other examples or hints you would like to share?

The biggest difference we find is walking down the street and people making eye contact and smiling at each other. :)
I try to do this at home and find very few positive responses :(

I think it''s lovely to see children made such a fuss of by young and old alike. Young waiters seem to have so much time for children, not just the toursits but local children too. It warms my heart.

Not just children, but the elderly as well. The older generation are respected and revered, a trait sadly disappearing in our culture I feel
