Are you an Office Victor Meldrew?
After today I think I am............ just some of the things that have made me count to ten today...
- People who ring and ring and ring telephones... THEY ARE NOT THERE - HANG UP!!!
- Emails with a read receipt on to see if the email has been opened!
- People who have to tell you how they actually are when you ask if they "are ok"!
Do you have pet hates or am I just becoming a grumpy old man!
-
Hi
I am grumpy when people ask how I am, and then don''t want me to answer it!! ;D Why ask??
LOL
Em
-
From Grumpy old woman I agree - why bother to ask how I am? If you are not interested. I have also just set up on my computer a request for having read my emails so i merit two grumps!!! Oh dear!
-
I have only just started to work in an office and can''t beleive how stuffy they get!
The windows don''t let enough air in, the computers and photocopier throw out so much heat, and i have to drink loads of water just to keep awake and hydrated enough to stop me disintigrating into a pile of dust! :o
-
Agree we were taught in training never ask someone how they are if you dont care what the answer is, just see how many people say to you in a day hi are you ok and carry on walking, most people will say yes fine thanks when they really have had a shit day, had bad news etc, grrrrrrrrrrrrr that makes me mad when people ask and they dont care.
-
Erm...think I''m a cross between Victor Meldrew and Monica from "Friends".
Hate people leaving the kitchen area like a tip...do you think dishes wash themselves?.. >:( or finding someone has used your personal cup, plate or bowl and not bothered to clean it (or even ask... >:D)
Everything, from the office temperature to phone and e-mail etiquette pales into insignificance next to the office sneak....You know the person...there''s one in most workplaces, I''m sure. They talk about everyone behind their backs, pass off someone elses ideas or work as their own, tell tales, come in early and stay late, always have the latest "buzz" words and sound like they''re totally in control of every situation when in fact they are relying on other people to dig them out of a hole...oh and they usually have friends in high places...grrrrr.
Oh yes..the office sneak....the pariah of the workplace. How long do you have to wait for karma to kick in??? ;)

People posting on internet forums in office hours!!!!!!!!! ;)

We are just looking forward to 11th August when we come to Kalkan. Life has been hard this year re looking after my mum who is terminally ill. She has been so supportive for us to have this holiday. Jeff and I will be at the Korsan Apartmentnts with my daughter and my foster son. all we want to do is chill out and relax. I will be leaving my office also from a National Children''s charitiy providing services for children who have suffered significant trauma where I am a Service and Clinical manager.

people surfing the net and doing there weeks shopping on it
-
Text Messaging, and personal non urgent calls. >:(
-
Yes i do most of these activities at the office text, surf the net, write on this forum am bored as hell! but who cares am on holiday mode 1 week to go. What i don''t like is my boss moving my desk about and tidying my drawers when i''ve been away. >:(
-
Staff demanding the minimum wage !!! don''t they realise I would then have to cut down my trips to Kalkan if I pay them more !!!
-
Maybe they want to come to Kalkan on holiday as well Misty!
I don''t work in a full office enviroment but I do hate rude customers who you are trying to help, but insist trying to tell you your job.
-
Oh, to have my own desk...that would be nice :)...we operate under the, rather trendily named, ''hot desk'' system.
In other words the council are continuing with cutbacks, closing down our offices and leaving 60 odd ( :D!!) people fighting over 10 desks and two interview rooms....certainly keeps you on your toes! ::)
-
blimey mrs B...are you interviewed for a desk!! :o
-
That sounds awefull Mrs B a workers desk is his castle, how do you find anything and I bet people change things round. I,ve heard of time share but desk share is new to me do you have a rota?
I won''t be telling my boss any time soon :o
-
You have to book time at a desk, on a rota type basis.
You have to carry all your stuff around with you as there can be nothing left at a desk when you leave it, and the next desk you use may be in a different building or area within your councils limits.
Sometimes you may be lucky and find an office where no one else wants to work (area wise) so you can sort of put roots down.
We do have a main office where all our filing cabinets are kept, and we''re lucky enough to be able to squeeze a couple of desks in, but thats between five of us...but this room could be taken off us at any time due to cutbacks.
And ''they'' say its cushy working for the council?! ;)
-
Ahh, yes, but think of the gold-plated pension... ;) ;D
-
Lol! :D
Ah yes, the council aren''t gonna try and take that off me in the next 27 years are they?! ::)
Grumble over.... :)
-
Does that mean no-one knows where you are and so you can''t be interupted with endless phone calls and can spend time on Enjoykalkan? If so it would be worth being deskless!!!!!!
-
Some one has to pay for it and iam glad its not me
