Title: Jandarm - going up one level
Post by: Cosetta on June 19, 2008, 05:57:26 PM
Pauline and anyone else who has gotten little or no response from the local Jandarm over matters they are responsible for such as break-ins, construction noise, thefts, etc.

The district governor (who lived in the UK) is advising foreigners to call 156 and NOT the local Kalkan jandarm.  If you call 156, your call is recorded, your complaint registered in a book and they are obliged to follow-up and take action.  It''s like going up to the next level.

Cosetta,

As a matter of record, can I get the complete number.  I dont have a local phone and I guess dialing from a UK mobile we''d start with something like  00 90 242 ...... is it just 156 on top of that?   Thanks  Bill

It won''t work from a UK number- it''s a bit like the UK 999 etc, so doesn''t have a full number.
