Title: Driving to Kalkan from England
Post by: tiamaria on May 30, 2008, 10:02:09 PM
We are looking to drive from the UK to Kalkan next year. We are looking at taking our time, visiting places as we go. Anyone who''s done this trip, could they share their experiences and any advise, places to avoid, places to stop over, best company in the UK for insurance, etc.  ??? We would be very gratefull.
 We hope Ben the brown & white dog as been found safe & sound. Kisle Tas isn''t the same with out him.
 Best regards to all living in Kalkan & visit her.

There was a good article on Fethiye Times website last year  (www.fethiyetimes.org.uk) Put in ''Driving from England'' in the search box and highlight ''all words'' and you will see the article. You will need to register with the Fethiye Times to view the article.

Hi Tiamaria, welcome to the forum;
You''re describing a dream of mine; always wanted to do it.  Friend of mine worked out the road mileage and it came to about 3,500 miles each way!  Best I can figure it and I believe it''s quite a popular route, is head for one of the major ports on the Adriatic coast of Italy then get one of the ferry services that punt between there and Marmaris.  I dare say there are a number of members who have more detail about it. So far as I know, the trip by boat, takes about a day and a half.  Sounds more and more attractive the more one talks about it doesn''t it? hahaha.  Good luck with your plans   Bill

The woman told me it was a very stressful journey with a lot of guns being waved around and a lot of questions as to her final destination

Hoca,  As I assume it''s safe to assume she didn''t return the same way with all that fuss, do you know the route she returned by? Just on a point of interest.
thanks
