It's very disappointing that hardly anyone is posting on this lovely friendly site regarding what is without a doubt a lot of people's favourite holiday destination, Kalkan. Unlike some other sites this is a very sociable and amicable site, without any of the nastiness I have encountered on other sites. To fellow members lets start posting on here again before it is closed down and keep the wealth of information coming for existing Kalkannites and indeed new ones who have yet to discover this wonderful place!!!!

I agree, I have always enjoyed this site. I think a lot of people are now using facebook but I personally don't. There is a certain amount of activity on Trip Adviser Kalkan Forum but I would like it to be on Enjoy Kalkan Forum.
Just about ready for a second visit this year to our beloved Kalkan and planning to meet up with someone who regularly posted on this site in the past. We have kept in touch over the years and this time it looks as if we can actually meet in person. I wonder if he will see this message and post something.....
Happy holidays to anyone planning to visit soon.

Hi tortoise lady, we too are looking forward to our second visit this year after missing last year due to Covid. Two weeks today and we will be looking forward to meeting up with old friends.

I think many people are now using the many hundreds of Facebook Groups which personally I find unfriendly, hard to search and full of spam posts.
The only thing that can be done to help is tell others, if you have a property you rent tell your guests, word of mouth is so powerful.

We’re coming out in mid October again, so hopefully there will be a few more post before then. Booked the hire car this afternoon and been pricing up taxis from home to Gatwick. Next job will be finding a reasonable travel insurance, having to shop around as I had a heart attack in June with 3 stents fitted so they like to pump up the premium.
It’ll be interesting to know how prices have changed and if the old faithful restaurants are still going. Are the Yildiz boats still going?

Hi Pompeyalbie, I believe Yildiz boats are still operating. As for prices, when we were there in June prices had gone up quite a bit, which is not surprising considering inflation in Turkiye is currently 80% !!!! We were paying around 60/70 lira for an Efes in bars and similarly for a shave. Eating out has gone up also, several old favourites have gone, notably Smyrna(don't know if you know it) Some new ones have opened. Antioche has taken over where Smyrna was, run by Ozgur, who used to work at Aubergine, and we found it very good. Enjoy your holiday, we are back at the end of August for just under 4 weeks & really looking forward to catching up with old friends, both British & Turkish. Happy days!!!
