Title: Thomas Cook Refugee - Advice Required
Post by: Kevin Norwich on September 27, 2019, 12:02:31 PM
Hi All

With the news from Thomas Cook, we now find that our booking at the Samira Exclusive next July has been cancelled.

I have contacted the Samira directly who have given us a quote and a bank account number to pay the full balance into. However, and for some reason, this doesn’t quite feel right. Is this standard practice? Has anyone else had experience of this? Should I proceed with caution?

This is the first time that we have booked ‘on line’ and quite frankly, I am finding the whole experience frustrating and bewildering. Can anyone give any tips as to make this experience a little less stressful?

We would dearly love to go back to the Samira Exclusive again next year but would consider a central villa, if an opportunity arose.

Any advice, gratefully received.

How many people and what are you looking for? I can recommend booking your own flights and booking accommodation in a villa/apartment. Put your request on Friends of Kalkan Facebook Accommodation page and you will get lots of responses. Whoever you book through will be able to sort your transfers and this is a tried and trusted way for most Kalkan visitors to go - there will be very few if any sharks as you can check out with reviews/talking to the owners and asking on that page for recommendations!! Sorry you have been caught out by TC... :(

Have you asked the Samira if you can pay a deposit for now and the balance nearer the time? The management there are quite efficious I've found in the past and not been willing to negotiate on many things.
The Oasis was also a predominantly TC hotel - the management there are very helpful and I'm sure they would help you.
The hotels must be very concerned re their futures so need to make the customer experience positive

Thanks Ali

I’ve just emailed the Samira, highlighting my concerns about paying over a large sum of money to a unknown bank account with no formal documentation or guarantee in place. We have had some amazing times at the Samira and I like and trust the guys there but you just never know.

Thanks for your recent holiday reports, it sounds like you had a fab time.
