Title: Thomas Cook Ceases Trading
Post by: Enjoy Kalkan on September 23, 2019, 07:44:14 AM
Thomas Cook has confirmed that all the companies in its group have ceased trading, including Thomas Cook Airlines.

As a result, we are sorry to inform you that all holidays and flights provided by these companies have been cancelled and are no longer operating. All Thomas Cook's retail shops have also closed.

The Government and the Civil Aviation Authority are now working together to do everything we can to support passengers due to fly back to the UK with Thomas Cook between 23 September 2019 and 6 October 2019. Depending on your location, this will be either on CAA-operated flights or by using existing flights with other airlines.

Our son was booked on the 08/10/2019 mid-afternoon flight. Yesterday, we managed to get him on the BA morning flight using my Avios points! Which is a positive as we now will travel together:) He should get his money back from the travel insurance.

Best of luck for the others booked on Thomas Cook flights.

I feel so desperately sorry for everyone affected by this across the world - people's livliehoods at stake in so many ways. Not just the company itself but all those people they contract out to as well - must be many thousands of local hotels and associated businesses across the globe
How disappointing for those due to travel in the foreseeable future - you may well get your money back in a couple of months but if you were due to have a holiday start tomorrow it's not much comfort today.
We have always had a great experience with TC, either flying with them to Dalaman or very often using a package deal to Kalkan as the price couldn't be bettered . On this occasion we couldn't get on a flight with them and had to use Easyjet . I'm slightly ashamed to say I had a bit of a whinge at the time of booking, Ive felt very lucky and very humbled today

We booked our 2 weeks with Simpson Holidays - due to travel on Sunday.   The flights were with Thomas Cook of course.

TC folded last night - at 10.45 this morning call from Simpson offering alternatives - fly with TA visa Istanbul; more expensive 2 weeks in Paxos at no extra cost or a full refund!

Didn't fancy the Istanbul hassle or Paxos at this time of year - so money it is!

This, yet again, proves that there is extra safety & less hassle booking with a reputable agent!   Commiserations to all other affected TC customers  https://www.enjoykalkan.com/forum/Smileys/classic/huh.gif
