Title: perfume in Kalkan
Post by: tortoise lady on August 10, 2019, 06:11:38 PM
I don't mean buying it in Kalkan but wearing it in Kalkan.   I have always avoided it (apart from maybe a splash of the local lemon cologne) because I thought it might attract more insects.   I get enough bites without encouraging them.   Anyone willing to share their perfume wearing experiences in Kalkan?

Good morning Mrs YV. Good old mozzy spray works for me in kalkan but doesn’t smell like perfume. At home a splash of red diesel when over filling the tractor keeps everything away, even the wife. One smell of that stuff and the clothes go in the bin. But then there’s nothing flying round the bin. Win win. 😂

Hi tortoise lady, she who must be obeyed informs me she uses Chance by Chanel, & has not had one bite, from me or the dreaded mozzies!!

Hi tortoiselady..........Tracey uses perfume in Kalkan. She rarely gets any bites. I splash on aftershave.......you never know who you might meet.......very rarely get bitten. We don't tend to use the other anti-mozzie treatments that people recommend. Touch wood this won't come back to bite me!! Pun intended lol

Thanks for your responses folks.   Due out in Kalkan again very shortly and this time will chance smelling of something nicer than the usual "eau de deet".   Maybe put the deet on and then perfume?   Could be an interesting combination.   So if you see a tortoise wandering round Kalkan and wonder what the strange smell is, now you know.

I always wear perfume, day and night in Kalkan and I can honestly say it neither attracts or detracts the mozzies. I sometimes have to be a bit careful with some of the flowery Jo Malone ones in the daytime as the wasps like it.  :o

The only downside is that sometimes on a sultry at night I can't seem to smell it on me anymore, think I sweat it of very quickly. Perfume first then Deet on ankles and legs for me. I very rarely get bitten on my arms, maybe because of the perfume?
