Not seen or heard them as yet in our area, although the pool sprayers are certainly about.

Not seen the sprayer, or been bothered by the mozzies, but, the olive flies are definitely starting to bite. Pesky little beggars.

Don't worry - making your own mosquito repellent is super easy!
Here's what you'll need:
- 30 drops of lemon-eucalyptus essential oil blend
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 ounces witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, or vodka
Mix the witch hazel, essential oil and vanilla extract into a small spray bottle.
You're all set! This formulation will only last for about four hours, so don't forget to re-apply it as needed.

I'm sticking with Deet...the higher concentration the better for me!

Jon,

If you use witch hazel, can you then drink the vodka?!!

Me too, preferably Jungle formula.

I remember reading a big Sunday Times test of 50 mossie repellants a few years ago. They concluded there were really only two kinds of repellants those with DEET and those that don't work.

Think they only tested chemical repellants though
I use a moisturiser (whatever you like or even after sun) add to it 5ml each of essential lavendar and tee tree oils per 10 ml of moisturiser. Have used it for years Mozzies hate it and I smell much nicer. :)

I have found the Sanctuary body lotion seems to keep the little blighters at bay, and makes for a pleasant smell too!
