Title: UK to Kalkan Parcel Deliveries
Post by: Mike on April 27, 2017, 12:39:56 PM
Hi

Has anyone used any international delivery couriers (DHL etc) to send packages from UK to Kalkan verses costs and hassles of taking a second large suitcase. I am talking some household items for our villa. Also are there customs hassles using the delivery way?

Any advice welcome

Mike

Hi mike
I don't know how much (size/weight) you need to take, but when we first came out with stuff for ours we just added on extra luggage. As long as the weight is within the allowance (i.e. 20kg?) then it was fine. You will need to check with the airline to check the size.  We had some large-ish canvas pictures to bring out along with a few other bits. I packaged them all up together with plenty of cardboard and bubble wrap and lots of fragile stickers. After we checked it in, we just had to take it to the large size luggage, where people would take golf clubs, ski's etc.
That was with EasyJet, but the actual size we were allowed was a lot bigger than a normal size suitcase (as I said, as long as the weight was within the normal allowance).
It may be that you have heavy bits.
Also, I've heard that a lot of people have ordered household bits from Next and apparently they deliver for free!

I would advise, if you can take it as extra hold luggage than that's Def the way forward. I have had stuff, in the past, stopped at customs (when sent as air cargo) and after Loads & loads of phone calls, hassle after hassle it was never seen again.
