Hi, does anyone know whether there is a minimum amount of tax payable on lettings. I was under the impression that if the total income didn't exceed the tax allowance then as in this and probably every other country then no tax was due.
However our friendly well known Kalkan accountant insists there is a minimum amount payable, together with his own fee of course!
Methinks a change of accountant in May!

The 2017 guide document has not yet been published yet but this was the guide to the rules from 2016

I haven't heard of any changes except that the personal allowance will have increased
hope this helps

Thanks Hobbo. From my reading of para 5 no tax would be payable - there is no mention of any "minimum payment". Sounds like we are being ripped off.

yes I would certainly be asking for an explanation.

Yes, tried that. That's where the "minimum payment" came from.

This is what our accountant said, "We make your paperwork to declare to goverment tax Office. You will not pay any tax. Your accounttant fee per person 195 TL (two person total 390 TL) should pay until 20.02.2017"
But then we had a pretty shite rentals year last year.
