Hi,
we are in Kalkan in June and taking my OH parents. They are in their 70''s but fairly active. Can anyone reccommend any suitable excursions. I am very lazy on holiday and tend to just do the boat trips and have done Saklikent (they would not like the latter).

Hi Loretta - we have just had the in-laws with us - also in their 70s.....they enjoyed Sakklikent - just as far as the plastic shoes bit. They loved Patara and the ruins and had a walk along the beach. They also enjoyed Xanthos, a visit to Kas, a visit to Fethiye market and a turkish hammam...and of course a bit of chilling..!!!!
Cheers!

I always love Tlos and Pinara. If they''re into ancient history it is facinating. There is a guide called Fethi at Pinara and he is very knowledgeable - a couple of years since we''ve been though. In Tlos some of the local women were selling the most beautiful handmade lace.
Pete and I also drove up into the mountains to Gombe at Easter. We went up there after we''d been to Kas market, the drive was spectacular and saw some red squirrels on route. We came back via Sutlegen which is a bit quicker and also a lovely drive. Of course we were there in t shirt crop trouser and sandals when it started snowing - and with every day you learn!

My 88 year old father always loves the drive along the old inland road to Kas which is totally unspoiled, scenic and just as it has always been, followed by a wander round the town before we drive back along the coast road. We stop at the little fish restaurant on the left before you get to Kaputas and eat freshly caught fish - no menu, just a tray of fish to chose from with a salad and chips.
He also loves Saklikent Gorge as he loves to people watch and loves the scenery. He stops at the restaurant where you get the rubber shoes as the surface from there on is too uneven but be warned there are no toilets there!

new toilets have just been built - they will be open when the new season starts I should think!! :)

Thanks for that Felicity as last year a couple of Efes necesitated a quick trot down the board walk to get back to the car park toilets, I think my dad broke the land speed record. We thought there had been toilets the year before.

you will still need to walk the board walk as the toilets are in the newly done car park..sorry...you''ll have to time it better to leg it back with your legs crossed..!!! ;D ;D

Oh dear!!!!!!! He''ll just have to have one less Efes or learn to walK with crossed legs, perhaps he needs to get a second walking stick so he can ''swing along''.
