Title: Best route from Kalkan to Cappadocia?
Post by: AgainstGossip on October 16, 2016, 08:19:52 PM
Hi. Can anyone who has driven from Kalkan to Cappadocia recommend to best route? There appears to be a few options:

1) D400 towards Fethiye then pick up the D350, then D330 via Isparta........
2) Via Gombe / Elmali to Isparta.........
3) Via Antalya..........

How long does it take?

Thank you

I'll leave the best route to those that have done it, but Google Maps reckons 9-10 hours.

TomTom reckons 9h45m to 10h50m, the fastest route going via Antalya and thence the D696, a route Google Maps doesn't offer.

Over to those of you that have first hand experience…

Having done this quite a few  times now, the journey time is approx 10 hrs,  we go via Manavgat, to  Isparta,  Konya. We do sometimes break it up with an overnight stay half way as it can be quite tedious & boring in places. The end result though is worth it.

We did the same route as DRBD going out, staying in Konya overnight, then did coastal route via Mersin & Antalya on way back staying at Gazapasa.  As said, it's a great experience at Cappadocia, make sure you stay in a good cave hotel even if for one night & if possible do the balloon trip early morning, making sure to use a good company to ensure a trip that takes you far from town. Enjoy!

If you go Isparta way I would recommend a visit to Eğirdir. Lovely little place on the edge of large lake.

Yes we love Egirdir, so different, peaceful, it's our midway stay over, a little off route but worth it. The surrounding area is fascinating too, if you have time.  But you must go over the causeway😊😉.
