Title: Boat help
Post by: Jmsuch on August 01, 2016, 07:43:44 AM
Hi all,  second time here and loving it. Spoke to captain Ali form the Zeus last night and he says he is only doing private charter. We are looking for a small boat which we can join another family or so for a day trip. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Try Moby Dick......we've always used them both to share with one other family or to join others with us as a couple

Sunset 1 is a lovely boat. It takes 12 people, so not too huge. Food is fab too.

Yildiz 2 or Yildiz 3 get our vote every time, captained by brothers Osman and Adem Yildiz and both their wives & family, the food in excellent.

Pina-x and Pina-x1 have my vote. Beautiful boats and lovely captains, delicious food, ambience etc. Also only take 12.

Both yildiz boats are lovely too but last time we were on yildiz 2 they squeezed up to 16 people on board and it was a really big squash around the table. Maybe it's different this year due to tourist numbers falling.

We have booked a private hire on Smile boat for the first time. I think (but correct me if I'm wrong) it's new this year and is Alper from Kaya/Ege rentals brother in law). This has very good reviews and is only small. I presume that it takes day visitors rather than private hire too.

I don't think you'll go wrong though whoever you choose as in our experience, the ones we have tried have all been fantastic.

For a small party, approx 6 perhaps, Smile is just fantastic, the food is superb, the young couple deserve the trade,  they are super & have worked hard to get where they are.  Give them a try but small parties only.  Perhaps a Sun set evening.

I wonder if the squeeze on Yildiz 2 was because Yildiz 3 had those technical issues (hull damage, wasn't it?)

I think, at the end of the day, you won't go wrong with any boat (bloat, by the consumption of food on board? >:D) trip, but the question was originally about the capability to take small groups to make up a boat load.

Some vessels only book by the boat load, I believe.

Yildiz 3 was repaired and back in action very quickly, I believe.

We favour Yildiz3.  I find the beds easier to get on "gracefully" ....some of the others seem a bit high.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We hooked up with a family staying in the same apartments and went down to the harbour. We looked at a couple but only had Saturday free. Neptune came good and we had a great day thanks.

Am I right in thinking Neptune is new this year ?  Can you tell us who captains it or anything specific about it.

Captain sirzgan (I think) three meals although not quite as good as Zeus. Windy day so we only had four stops. He has been going for a while as there are plenty of tripadvisor reviews although non from this year. No diving board and no masks were offered although we had plenty. Enjoyable day with no complaints and the drinks and glasses were sooooo cold!
