delighted that the taxi's have reduced the prices especially as out of season the weather is not always great to walk to town. no doubt many regulars have favorite drivers that they prefer to use and also recommend. at the moment the Taxi cartel have put a stop to that in order for all the drivers to get "a bite of the cherry" so to speak which makes sense and seems fair.
i understand that this will continue until may when the tourist season starts. my gripe is that we have over the last three weeks here met some new drivers who think that we are also new to kalkan and insist on taking us home in the route that is obviously going to cost us more. the same journey from where we are to the harbor has cost anything from 10tl to 16tl depending on the route taken. we have addressed it a few times with the drivers only to get the "shoulder shrug" last night we had a taxi down and back up, the taxi rank sent the same driver for both trips. when i told him the route i wanted to go home by he got really angry. it saved me 5tl and he was not happy. yes not a lot of money but when you are here for weeks at a time it soon mounts up!
my rant is not quite over!
NO CHANGE is the other ploy to round the fare up.

We hardly ever use taxis so can't comment but I'm sure these new guys will get whipped into shape once the regulars start visiting... 😏
