2106? A bit far in the future, K4E!
-
what ever is new in 2016 will be looking a little worse for wear in 2106........and that deffo includes me !!
-
No Asian Garry? Never did get to eat there!
-
Haha....I've amended the date...what was I thinking? I wonder what will be new for Kalkan in 2106...?
-
Will miss Asian Gate personally.

Asian Gate closed earlier in October last year.I had a chat to them and they were hoping to re locate to another site.....sounds like it hasn't happened which is a shame.
Looking forward to going to Salonika in April and trying out Suleyman's (ex manager of Fenner ) new restaurant..Pera,also in Suleyman Yilmaz caddesi

I love it when the "what's new" is released. Feels like the light and the end of the tunnel from a cold and dreary long winter. It also looks as though us lucky people who will be there soon will have plenty of choice too, which is not always the case before the official start of the season. I'm very much looking forward to trying some of the new eateries but sad about the demise of Asian 'Garry' Gate. We personally thought the food was delicious and such lovely people too. :(

enjoyed moonstone and Asian gate lots, what a shame they will no longer be around .

The street in which Solonica is located was great last year. It used to be an almost deserted street but gained real atmosphere when Salonica opened opposite Bekonvil. We're looking forward to trying the new places opening this year and I'm sure they'll add to the atmosphere.
We're also sorry that Asian Gate has gone.

Agree with you, Kalkan regular, this little street is so pretty and vibrant now. Iso's used to be there and for a season or two there was a bar where Botanik is now oh and of course Istanbul was here but then it all went a bit sad. Now with White House one end and the main drag at the other it really is one of the nicest little streets in Kalkan with its lovely lanterns strung across the road. Cant wait to try out a few of the restaurants there this year.
Sofra going is a bit of an end to an era....Sofra was one of the first restaurants we visited in Kalkan and is part of the fabric for us. Its a great spot, so hopefully the new restaurant will do well.

I agree that this is one of the best streets in kalkan now.Resul with Solinika is a great addition to the street and again is part of the fabric of kalkan for us,as we remember him from the days of Oz Adana. Also,we are great friends with Suleyman and wish him all the luck with his new restaurant...Pera.I love the old original houses with their rustic wooden front doors......a big plus for the town

Isos, as far as we are aware are still there it was 4 days ago, certainly some activity going on..

Salonica is lovely. Had dinner there mid week and going back tonight for our last meal before we go home tomorrow. Resul is a lovely guy and really wants to do well. His menu is good, really well priced. Had fab sea bass which came with a selection of crisp fresh vegetables . My husband had the fish casserole , again lovely. All the sides are included in the price. Had dinner at Aubergins this week as well. Food only mediocre. paid extra for vegetables . Complained that the fish casserole had bones only to be told well " fish has bones " They never take no responsibility for anything or try to make things better . It's not the first time we have experienced this response there ( we are not fussy people)
Going back to Salonica, his indoor dining area is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely stone walls with wonderful lighting and an amazing central chandelier . A special place.

DRBD, glad to know Iso's is still there - have to say I thought it had gone as I don't recall seeing last year. All the activity in this area can only improve business for them. Thanks for putting the record straight :)

Also a bit sad about Sofra because that was the restaurant where we celebrated buying our first apartment, all those years ago...but it's great to see that street becoming busier and developing a character all of its own. Will definitely be visiting Suleyman's new place. Good old Kalkan, always reinventing itself :)
