Looking forward to hearing some reports it's been so quiet on here of late. Hopefully will be out late aug/sept but with the recent problems will leave it a bit longer to book and see how things go. Really want to get there this year as unfortunately due to family probs had to give it a miss last year. Fingers crossed ,!!

think i must be the only one (and OH) who after 3 weeks in Kalkan is counting the days to going to UK on Sunday. Never in the sixteen years we have owned our property or the 20 years since we started coming have we felt like this. Can not put a finger on why in particular but for us at the magic has gone :'( hope we are feeling better about it for our next trip in five weeks time ! ps i need to start a thread on the "Taxi Drivers " ! >:(

When I first replied to this it was 79 days...now it's a mere 24. Cases came down from the loft on Monday and I'm already looking at a load of things I don't remember buying... :P :-[ :-[

So, with still a little under three weeks until we are in Kalkan, I'm sort of packed :o :o. I've done the first and second cut of clothes...footwear still undecided, but more or less know which 27 pairs I'll be taking :-* Discovered I had three books still unread from last year, so I'm now looking at 9 paperbacks and I'm really unsure of which ones to leave behind...Of course it all changes when the toiletries and...erm....shall we say home comforts are included and we start playing the "what can come out" game...always a tortuous excercise as I've already decided at this point what I'm taking and I'm not in the mood for compromise.
Monarch told us we could check in...so I have! I think this means the last flight cancellation was the final one. Still need to sort out visas and insurance but I properly am counting down the days now we are practically in the teens... #20days

I really admire your organisation and packing skills K4E but if I packed so far in advance I'd torture my self by taking stuff out, then putting back in, then taking out, replacing, changing etc etc. I'm so indecisive. Imagine what I'm going through right now re the EU vote!!!?? ???
I'm selfishly very glad your holiday is imminent as it means that ours is getting nearer too. :-* :) ;)

I only have to pack for me these days, Lizilu and with the exception of a few new additions to the holiday wardrobe...although BH and I differ on what "a few" actually means....its more or less the same clothes I take year in year out. So packing is easy. Its the removal by force when we cant get the weight right I have an issue with >:D >:D

Oh K4E, how exciting, cases down, and the beginning of your packing! I have to say I too am the same, if I started packing too early I would be panicking as wouldn't be able to remember what I had put in, and it would have to all come out to check and re-check! Just made me chuckle, 9 books! wow you must read very quickly! and 27 pairs of shoes! :D :D you would get on so well with a friend of mine, we have been away at the weekend, and she took 6 pairs of shoes! we were only gone 48 hours!
Looking forward to reading your blog if you have time in between reading those books :D 8)

I wish I could get away with 27 pairs of sandals, Jayne ;D I have packed 8 pairs - which believe me is conservative - and I might throw some in my hand luggage last minute if there's any room with all those paperbacks :laugh: :laugh: The words packing and light are never used in the same sentence with my name...just sayin!

Have you thought of investing in a kindle? You might find room for a few more pairs of sandals then.😀😀👠👠👠

I have thought about a Kindle, msr, but I just can't bring myself to move over to the dark side. There's something lovely about a book plus I leave them behind for other holidaymakers to enjoy...where's the sharing with a Kindle??? The space in my case just happens to be handbag sized once the books have been read :angel:

8 pairs is still v impressive! Try a kindle......told me a while to cross to the dark side but have never looked back since! I can see your point about a handbag sized hole though! :laugh:

I understand your concerns 're a kindle. However I too have been tempted over to the dark side and I love it. I am an avid reader and still read real books some of the time but for holidays the kindle is amazing. Many, many years ago we went to Elba and I took the entire series of Mazo de la Roche, Jalna books! There were 20 of them and they were hardbacks. I can't imagine I got much else in my case! I still love the feel of a good chunky real book and the 'smell' of all those lovely printed pages, you can't beat that!

Who can really say they've not enjoyed the holiday delight of dropping off by the pool, the book falling to the floor, and the loose pages, detached by the Turkish sun drying out the glue, fluttering round the pool as you chase after them and dry them out?
