Title: Moisture resistant paint
Post by: AgainstGossip on August 18, 2015, 05:00:18 PM
Hi
I know the rainy season is a long way off, but in anticipation of the annual moisture ingress, can anyone recommend a moisture resistant paint that actually works?
Cheers

Don't know what you are planning on painting but in the UK one of the best paints for damp/stains/mould /primer/etc is called    Zinsser......it isn't cheap but it is effective I have used it on damp and my buddy who is a painter and decorator uses nothing else

You won't find it locally......my advise is to bring it from the UK

We couldn't find anything in Kalkan when we had a damp problem, so ended up buying a can of something in B&Q and took that out. Haven't had a problem since and that was a few years ago.

I was assuming you would take it from The UK..thats why Tommy Walsh doesn't holiday in Kalkan  ;D ;D
(For Zinsser try Amazon) or as liittlelin says you could take a punt on a Wickes/B&Q own which is cheaper although adequate not as powerful..depends how severe your problem is ;)

I have used Dyostop which you then paint over with normal paint and this year used Kalekim Elastikor which is already white so doesn't need paint as well, will find out this winter how good it is! Both available  in Kalkan.

Speaking of the damp. Has anyone managed to buy an electric de-humidifier in Turkey?

I had an idea of buying one and putting a pipe from the reservoir tank into a shower tray or into the kitchen sink. When I went on the hunt for one in Fethiye in May/June, I had a real problem getting anyone to understand what I wanted. There does not even seem to be a word for it in any Turkish dictionary or online translator that I consulted. One chap in TechnoSA got me to speak to his girlfriend because she had better English but, it turned out that they were unaware of anywhere that I might find one.

Hi

de humidiifiers are available if you look in the large electrical shops in Fethiye

Try    nemlendirici  as nem is humidity i Turkish

As to the paint the shop in Kas under Migros has a selection as does HomeProf in Fethiye
