As regular readers will know a couple of years ago the must have item in Kalkan was not the latest handbag or watch but the water hammock ! Amongst many we purchased said water hammock and spent hours in the pool. Several skill levels were documented, level 1: mount water hammock in shallow water, level 2: mount water hammock in deep water, level 3: turn front to back in dignified manner, level 4: turn from back to front in dignified manner.
In 2013 I achieved level 4!! However on re validation this year whilst level 1 and 2 were achieved and I was awarded a pass for level 3 with extra points for creative style, level 4 was a step to far and an outright fail, I am allowed to re test over the next few days please wish me luck.. 8)

Our water hammock is now in its 4th year of service and still going strong....I obviously need a pass with distiction as I can effortlessly perform all of those stages with some aplomb. I am available....but only for the next six days, sadly....for extra coaching if required.

Ah my beloved Walter and I will soon be reunited :-* :-* :-* he is at present in the company of gin and hot tunas in the deep dark recess of Bob and Jayne's locked cupboard. Walter and I achieved level 4 in no time - he's a fast mover and I'm very easily led. Just remember Hobbo, level 2 requires snug fitting speedos, my baggy, well worn, loose elastic bikini bottoms shimmied down as I shimmied up and it was not a pretty sight :o :o
We never got round to that flotilla moment did we? I think the wine won :)
Hope you master level 4 very soon then you can move on to level 5 - mastering levels 1-4 without spilling your Efes!! ;D

Update, level 4 passed this morning! Not sure about level 5 I'm fairly confident that it would end in total disaster!

I need intensive lessons on any kind of flotation device except the do-nuts which I have almost mastered. I hate getting my head under water so regard being tipped off into the pool as a form of torture. I swim sedately along (with do-nut) doing my version of the breast stroke and keeping my face out of the water. I just know I look like a frog when swimming.
Warning for those who do master water hammocks, there have been tales (on the forum I think) of people feeling so relaxed and cool that they end up with sunburn.

;D ;D ;D Well done on passing level 4, I'm sure I'll be a bit rusty too seeing as it will be 12 months since Walter and I have made contact. :)
Well mentioned tortoise lady as I'm a victim of this too. Those hammocks really lull you into a false sense of security and it's so easy to burn without realising.

The ones that are available in Kalkan don't have the 'pop up' carbon fibre supporting ring and trying levels 3 and 4 and above would be dangerous.. I tried and got in a terrible tangle!! They still have these 'copy' water hammocks at 'cancan' along the kalamar rd. We tend to buy a new genuine one each year and leave them out for guests they tend to last 2seasons. There is also a special test for owners who want to fold the hammock up to take home or put in storage... Only genuine owners will appreciate the skills required!

I've had a genuine fake banana (cos it's Yellow) hammock from CanCan for years and it's been great. It was showing signs of wear & tear when I got it out this year so I decided to get a real one. Ordered from Amazon for the bargain price of £20 and delivered next day. Happy days.
Except it didn't fit in my bloody case! So my BH got another outing in June. At least the new (boring blue) one will still be brand new for the next trip in September........if I buy new luggage.

On the subject of Genuine Fakes, we have just got back from Lidl armed as we do with their weekly magazine, and to our surprise on page 25 they have for sale Green Water Hammocks! for the grand sum of £7.99! Available from Thursday 25th June while stocks last. They come with an integrated pillow and soft mesh lying surface for luxuriously whiling away the hours! It doesn't have the reinforced fibreglass outer ring, but it looks the same as the one we bought in Can Can last year, which I think we paid around 50Tl. We are going to invest in one to take out to Kalkan, as the we have out there is pink and Bob flatly refuses to be seen on it!!! ;D

Thanks for the tip off Bob & Jayne, I picked up two at Lidl today.
They are similar to the ones sold in Kalakan, i.e no fiberglass rod so will fit in hand luggage. Quality looks to be better than the one I bought in Kalkan last year but will have to wait until we get to Kalkan, in two weeks time, to find out for sure.

Glad you managed to get 2 alantj, we got another one in green, they had orange, but thought it may clash with our pink one! they look really good as you say and very compact for transporting. Enjoy your holiday :D

I think I need to be going to lidl tomorrow for Walter Jr. while stocks last. At this rate us EK'ers will have exhausted supplies up and down the country. Do you think if I start now I'll look like her by August ??? ;D
