Title: Seafood restaurants in Kas
Post by: AlisonD on June 08, 2015, 02:17:02 PM
Hi, we are thinking of spending an evening in Kas this July. Can anyone recommend a good seafood restaurant, preferably with views of the harbour/sea. Would we need to book? Any general thoughts on a trip to Kas - best way to get there and back, how long, how much would the taxi cost, whats the shopping like, any tips etc greatly appreciated.

I can't help you with a restaurant but I know the last bus to/from Kas is early (19.30 ish I think, you'd have to check) so you could probably only go by dolmus and would need a taxi back.

hadn't thought of getting a Dolmus - where do they go from? The only issue I suppose would be getting the troops down to the town from our Villa which would mean a taxi down and might not be a huge amount more to get to Kas?

The bus station (octogar) is up by the D400 just below the traffic lights. If you taxi each way to Kas you will either have to pay them to wait or they will have to come back for you later (28km each way) or you will need to use a Kas taxi for the return journey. If you aren't too far from the bus station you could go in by dolmus and then get a Kas taxi back, which probably would be the cheapest option.

Ok Dolmus and taxi back sounds a plan. Anyone recommend somewhere good to eat in Kas? Preference would be seafood. Thanks

There's a lovely fish restaurant right on the harbour. Can remember it's name - but if you stand with your back to the Meis Express office facing the harbour then its in front of you and slightly to the left (last restaurant before the closed-off area of the harbour where the Meis ferries leave from). Its very traditional old school (waiters in black trousers & white shirts, always lots of locals there) - excellent fish, good meze selection.
just done a quick Google....think it must be this one: http://www.sultangardenrestaurant.com/index.php/menuu

Have had very good meals in Smiley's near the harbour car park entrance, including very good fish .

Sultan Garden in Kas is supposed to be good but please check all the prices before you order anything as a friend of mine had a very unexpected expensive experience there :o

The Blue Dolphin is a very nice rooftop restaurant with views of the harbour. We have only been for lunch but enjoyed it very much.
There is also a very nice open air bar in a courtyard in Kas called The Secret Garden which is very chilled and layed back. It is very similar to the new one which opened in Kalkan last year ? Botanic.
Hope you have a lovely time whatever you do.
