Title: Internet Banking Problem
Post by: littlelin on November 06, 2014, 04:52:54 PM
Anyone else having problems receiving SMS from their Turkish Banks with log in codes? I tried to log on to my Is bank account but didn't receive the code sent to my mobile. Apparently there seems to be some sort of problem with receiving texts from Turkey as from 30 Oct but I don't know if this is just a problem just with O2 or are other networks affected. Some are saying it's a problem at the Turkish end , others are saying it's the UK networks, but it means that I can't access my account.
Just wondered if anyone knows anything?

KK, what network do you use, is it O2?

I am in Kalkan and started having problems about the same time and enjoyed success by finding another web page to enter from.  Initially I had to use the Turkish version of their site but later also found an English page which also works.

The problems may be connected and worth a try, here are the new links:-

Unfortunately it only seems to be affecting those in the UK, texts aren't being received by UK mobiles from Turkey, there seems to be some sort of block on the texts, not sure if it's just O2 or dare I say it the Turkish authorities. Mention has been made on other forums re the Syria crisis.

It's very odd because I have realised that although I am accessing Denizbank within Turkey, I am using my UK mobile phone (O2 network) to receive the SMS?

The problem could be with Turkcell who are a partner of O2, apparently SMS sent via Turkcell to UK numbers aren't being received. Would be interested to know if any other forum members have been able to log on to their Turkish Banks recently and which networks they use.

To workaround the problem, download the "app" Tu go from O2 and then you will be able to receive the SMS from Denizbank via your wireless connection if you are linked to it.  You will need to download the application then register and they will send you a code (PIN) to enter, once you enter the PIN you can receive SMS to the app via your wireless network

Thanks sausagedog, but no good for me as I'm on Giffgaff and the Tu app is only for O2 numbers.

For anyone using Isbank, download their mobile app, it works with GSM, is not an SMS, and it always works correctly.

Denizbank:  I too have had problems receiving SMS messages sent from Barclays.es (Spain) to my Turkcell mobile in Kalkan.  During the entire 6 months I was in Kalkan, I was unable to receive any SMS sent from Barclays in Spain. I complained to Barclays, they said their computer showed 9 messages sent to my Turkcell mobile, I received 0 while in Kalkan so could not use my Spanish account while I was in Turkey.

I think the problem is indeed with Turkcell, they are either blocking incoming messages or having some configuration problems.

I received an email from Isbank the other day asking me to try again as their mobile operator had updated their settings, still no luck. Had another email yesterday and when I logged in last night - success, the SMS came through, so it seems the problem was with Turkcell. Might try and download the app though for future use, thanks Cosetta.
