So, Household Haybo is now in Full holiday mode! Last day at school for the boy. 4 days at work for me and hubby...... Cases out, ant powder purchased, p20 on standby..... Soooooooo excited!
-
Ant powder?? ::) ::)
-
We were inundated with the pesky critters last year and the best solution the property managers had was to spray a bit if Flash! Needless to say, it did not deter the relentless marching from the back of the lounge through to the bin in the kitchen.
This year I will be victorious.........!!
-
Kill them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D or move the bin :-\
-
Ooh I can almost taste your excitement Haybo ;D
Three weeks tomorrow for us YIPPEEE!!!! :) 8) O0 8) :)
-
BL. We tried moving the bin but the blighters found it!
Lizilu - you arrive as we leave..... Lucky you!
-
We discovered in Yali a white powder you could spray along the path the ants were taking. It was very effective. I know ants have their own lives to live but, please, not in the house.
Have a wonderful holiday Haybo. It is lovely when you get to the stage of "seven sleeps". Not due back in Kalkan until early September so won't start counting the sleeps just yet.
-
29 sleeps till our daughter's wedding, 32 sleeps till sunny(?!) Devon and 85 sleeps till Kalkan.......in danger of wishIng my life away?? ;D
Have a great time Haybo......look forward to your reports.....no pressure!!

3 sleeps till we go - First time in Kalkan and SOOOOOO excited!
Finished my exams yesterday so I haven't even started packing yet oops!

10 sleeps for us now, almost finished School, last 1.5 days Monday and Tuesday. Can't wait is an understatement! We've only ever seen a few ants, but have boiled the kettle to finish them off! that sounds awful, sorry! Sounds like a busy time in your household Haybo, but not long now. Looking forward to meet up in Fener very soon!

We get the ants outside the villa in Kalkan, powder, boiling water and lots of stamping, good way to keep fit but they always come back even though the resident moggies seem to think they're a delicacy. We had them at home years ago, actually found they had a nest in our front wall, kept powdering and problem solved. Our problem this year at home will be spiders. Only have to go to our caravan for a few days and the webs are everywhere even behind the loo although we don't spot the blighters. Nearly worn out the trusty feather duster. Hope it stops other wise after eighteen nights in kalkan the house will look like somewhere Miss Haversham would be at home. Any ideas?? Apart from a swarm of flies , not good. Have a great time , critters'nall.

6 sleeps......
Went to a lovely Ball in the grounds of my work last night, so feeling a bit bleary today...I think that 6 sleep might come early, although I am a year older today so I probably should try to stay awake! ::)
I do hope I manage a few trip reports.......

Well we're down to 3 sleeps now!
Last night my front tooth broke so I am off to dentist now to beg for assistance! Also, the guy who runs the cookery course hubby was booked on reckons he didn't get my last email so hasn't saved a space on course. V disappointed! I'm hoping my step son breaking an expensive mug was the 3rd of the disasters ...as they all happened within 10 minutes of each other !
-
I'm sure it is and you're all done now! My daughter has a repaired tooth at the front and a few years ago a couple of days before we went to Kalkan it broke off and I had to ring around all the local dentists to find one who could repair it on a Saturday morning! Good luck and have a lovely holiday!
-
Was the cookery course at Gurus, Haybo?
We did it about 6 years ago and people just showed up on the day and Huseyain just allowed them to join...? Maybe its changed.
If it wasnt Guru's try them.
-
Recently had a broken tooth fixed at Cenk the dentist in Kalkan. Absolutely first class, painless and at a much lower cost than in the UK.
Highly recommended
-
K4e - yes it is gurus - they seem to want bookings now. Hüseyin is trying to slot him on another date.
chris S - thanks for the recommendation ! Hopefully I won't need it. All sorted now!
-
Haybo, we had a great time on the course. Huseyin's Mum did most of the cooking whilst he took lots of photos and offered translation - his English is perfect after working on cruise ships. Afterwards we ate what we cooked and watched a power point sideshow of the pics. Most of the herbs came from the garden and we had the most delicious local wine to accompany the fruits of our labours. Only thing that disappointed me was a couple of latecomers just rocked up on the day (we'd booked) and as previously mentioned they were allowed to join in, but because they were vegetarians, the meat dishes were cancelled and we could only cook veggie. >:(

NO SLEEPS!
Leave in 2 hours!
Will try to do some trip reports....wifi permitting! Looking forward to meeting Christina and Bob/Jayne next week!
-
Can I start a countdown of 69 sleeps ;D
-
You can indeed....308 for us :(
-
14 SLEEPS FOR US YIPPEE!!! 8) 8) O0 8) 8) :o :D ;) :) :-*
Can you tell I'm a bit excited ::)
-
If I could get away with 85 then it's fine!
Have a great holiday Haybo and family!
-
3 for us, not meaning to be over excited ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Am I odd? (Probably best not to answer that!)
To me it's not the sleeps - it's the get-ups!! (always my big problem...)
-
Chris_H, I am with you on the get-ups. Not an early riser and although I try to get civilized flight times to Dalaman (or anywhere) they always seem to involve getting up much earlier than I would normally contemplate. For various reasons the next visit to Kalkan in September involves a very early flight from Gatwick. Hardly worth going to bed although I will attempt it. So not sure it is worth counting that last night before the flight as a "sleep".
-
66 for us - can't come soon enough!
