Hi. Please can anyone advise us, tomorrow we have decided to take the ferry from Kas and visit the Greek Island of Meis. I was wondering if anyone can advise me as to where I find the ferry timetable, how much it is, will we need Euros and I'm presuming passports will be needed.
Thank you

You will need to get to Kas by around 9.00am and go to the office down by the harbour to hand in your passport & get your tickets for the Meis express. I think it leaves around 10.30am & returns around 4 - 4.30pm.
It's a lovely day out and the little bay is really pretty, it's also nice to walk up to the castle.
Yes you will need euro's and some of the Kalkan ATM's offer them there is also an ATM in Meis.
Enjoy

You can get 20% discount in trips to Meis as an EK forum member if you book through Cpt Ergun.

Have to say we have tried to book with Captain Ergun for a boat trip, asking for the EK discount but we have been unsuccessful :(
Meis is a lovely day out, would thoroughly recommend it and I understand some shops take Turkish Lira these days too

We were thinking of going to Meis and possibly staying overnight. Does anyone know if that's possible?
-
Yes it is possible, there is a hotel on the island overlooking the harbour, we have also see 'rooms to let' also there is a travel agent who would possibly be able to help, Contact Meis Express office for information on 0242 836 1725 or via web site www.meisexpress.com.

What is the price of malt whisky, champagne, cointreau and wine in the duty-free shop in Meis? Trying to decide if it is worth the TL 75 x 2 people to go just for this purpose or not. I think maybe the cost of the trip will equal the cost of buying these in Kalkan.
Anyone know?? Many thanks!

You can't get many bottles. You can buy only 2 bottles each and it doesn'T really worth to go all the way from Kalkan to Meis to buy drink.

Cointreau was around 20 Euros, Gordons 11 Euros, both 1 litre.
It probably does even out in cost, however you get the bonus of a lovely day out in one of the prettiest places I know.
