Post by: Bri on June 13, 2014, 04:16:29 PM: Ok, I'm now sat here sipping my EFES Pilsen......had enough Turkish tea today, so its a Turkish Tannoy mystery eh, thought they might of been announcing flight home update details for us Kalkaner's :-/ ha.
Its our first visit to Kalkan and have enjoyed our stay, could easily stay longer but work beckons.
Did we do what everyone else does ie walk down into town in the evening and taxi back ? First couple of nights we walked back......my calves felt like rocks for 2 days after :-(
Didn't realise it was so hilly, we like to walk but its got to be flat I'm afraid, I've even took the car down town during the day in fear of the treck back. Now where's that EFES :-)

Post by: DRBD on June 14, 2014, 07:07:17 AM: The announcements are from the Belediye , at the moment they are in both Turkish & English inviting people to the culture w/e. Very difficult to understand or hear at the best of times especially in the past years. They normally announce water/electricity problems & other public notices.

Would advise against any adverse comments on the forum it is widely read.

Post by: DRBD on June 15, 2014, 07:25:14 AM: Babs : the announcements are back to being in Turkish at the moment, knew it was too good to last, it seems where ever you are & one is made, very few people can understand them which includes the locals, there is a female voice now which is softer & slower & you can pick out a few words. Seems to be fewer over recent weeks since the change of local government & transfer to Kas.
