Please consider supporting the residents of Berzigan over proposals to site a quarry there. Full story available on KTLN www.turkishlocalnews.com and link to online petition.

This is a very serious issue, having spoken to Pauline & her husband Erol earlier on in the year whilst out walking this area you can see just what damage would be caused not only to the Bezirgan village but also to the surrounding areas including Kalkan eg large lorries backwards & forwards just for starters. The proposed area is beautiful, is full of history & the home of many, PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION.

Signed and included a comment. I think a stone quarry will have many negative consequences for Kalkan tourism particularly for those areas near Akbel and major roads. Rumbling trucks, dust, noise and the destruction of a small town that many tourists visit because they think it is quaint and pretty ... and it is.

thanks to everyone who has responded :)
If you have read the article and a couple of comments on this thread, you will know how important this is. The alternative route into the quarry, avoiding the storage huts which are subject to a protection order, could be through Islamlar which would also be disastrous for this beautiful, peaceful village.
