Title: Should I go to Specsavers?
Post by: pw on September 21, 2013, 04:08:18 PM
Or should I wait until I'm in Kalkan next week? Just had my eyes tested and need varifocals for the first time. The Rayban frames I like plus the standard varifocal lenses are going to be circa £300 if I go ahead and order from my optician and I'm wondering how much cheaper they might be in Kalkan.

I'd appreciate any thoughts from anyone who's bought their specs in Kalkan.

Cheers,

pw

Fiona (my wife) just had a new pair of specs from the optician in Kalkan and she is extremely pleased with them...so much so that she has now ordered some prescription sunglasses from him.

Varifocal, reactolite, anti glare, scratch resistant, titanium frames, and all for about 2/3 the cost quoted by specsavers.

Save your money & get them done whilst in Kalkan.  Have been getting mine done in Fethiye for seval years now & save a small fortune.  Can never understand how the charges are so high in the UK.

I have always been a Specsavers customer, eek when it comes to paying for varifocals :'( :'( :'(     Alas, when on holiday one year, I mislaid? my prescription sunglasses, not a good idea in the Turkish sunlight.   The optician I used in Fethiye was amazing, designer frames, varifocals, perfect tint, 1 day to wait AND a quarter of the price over here.   I did not have my prescription with me, so it was read from my ordinary glasses on a machine.  I cannot comment on the Kalkan optician, as have never used, but in Fethyie there are several shops, who used to take it in turns to open day/night, so virtually 24 hour cover.  Whichever route you choose - Kalkan v Fethyie, it is a damned sight (no pun intended ;D ;D ;D) cheaper than here in rip-off Britain :) :) :) :)

I had some reading lens put into an old frame this year in kalkan and I am really pleased with them . They are reactolites and were about £80 . The only thing I would say is I wear varifocals and they take some getting used to and you might want to pop back for help , I know we all love kalkan but it's along way to go to ask about your glasses  ;D
