Title: Turtles and Turkish Baths!
Post by: jonathan_bude on July 27, 2013, 08:28:39 PM
Hi again back with more questions!

Off to Kalkan in three weeks  :) and we are wondering if anyone can pass on any info on Turtles and their hatching season?
When looking at the possibility of horse riding on Patara beach we saw that they won't ride close to the shore line because of the hatching - so does this mean there is a chance we may see some turtles - is it the right time of year - and if it is where would be the good places to go or are there any ways to see the hatchings - would be fantastic if we could!

One other question - can anyone recommend a good place for us to experience a ' genuine' Turkish Bath?

Have never seen turtleson Patara beach but I think that's the whole point isn't it.....they keep people away from them?
We would recommend Atlantis Turkish bath......I think it's the nearest to a traditional version
Have a great holiday!

Turtles come ashore at night ,this is when eggs etc are laid/hatched...That is why Patara beach is closed at night ;)

Check with the tour agents offering Kekova trips,a lot of people have seen turtles this year around those waters.

Yes Amber, we did our usual not to be missed Kekova trip with Abi Travel. We have been doing this trip with them for probably about 15 years and thought it couldn't possibly get better, but this year it did as we were privileged to see many turtles and even swam alongside them. Was a truly incredible experience and the guide Ken, told us that they see them regularly now. Would not look past Abi for this trip, they have many many years of experience of organising this trip and it shows! Also this year had an amazing new mini bus which has cameras mounted in several places on the outside of the bus which are filming the views and can be seen on a screen inside. No need to miss any of the spectacular scenery en route to pick up the boat.
