Title: Young Man Loitering by Changing Rooms
Post by: paula09 on May 23, 2013, 11:33:37 AM
I have today been on the beach at Kalkan, and then as usual went to Green Changing huts straight opposite steps, when I went in i notice a young man about 15/16 staring.  Then when I came out of the changing room I just happened to glance back and saw his feet behind the changing room that I had been in.  I asked him what he was doing and it took a couple of minutes for him to realise I wasnt going away and he came out, sheepishly !! He just walked passed me smirking and sat on a bench, I did tell a man in the Kleo bar and he said he would call the Jandarma, but i did not see them come.. Just wanted to make everyone aware, as not sure if he was a peeping Tom or maybe he was hoping I would put my bag on the floor and he would be away with.. either way just wanted to tell people to be on their guard when using these facilities and always place your handbag on the hangers and not on the floor.  Would off been so easy for him to off taken it without me noticing.
Hope you dont mind me posting this I am still in shock.
Be Safe

If you were suspicious then you were possibly right about his actions, so you are correct in letting people know, sad/horrible situation for you to experience.  Kalkan is not exempt from such things as so many people believe & sadly it is becoming more common for unpleasant situations to occur.  We are very lucky to have such sites as both EK & KTLN to enable such information to be posted.

Hope your next visit to the beach is a far better,

I agree you have done the right thing, forewarned is forearmed as they say, i would rather be made aware of these things so you can be alert - good or bad. you poor thing what an experience hope it didn't ruin your day as we love our days at the beach - usually so peaceful.

Just wanted to Thank you all for your comments.. I have been in Kalkan for 5 months now and todays incident did shock me but I have to say that it will not put me off going to the beach or anywhere else in Kalkan , Kalkan is a beautiful place and I  feel very lucky to be living here. The Majority of people Local or expats are the nicest people you could meet, but unfortunately there are always one or two bad ones everywhere.   Thanks again Paula x

What a horrible thing to happen, a similar thing happened to me when I was much younger. Ì was the only woman getting showered and changed  in a leisure centre when I realised there was s man hiding in there, obviously a peeping Tom. Luckily I was already fully clothed so I just panicked and fled outside to the car, in hindsight stupidly didn't report it and didn't  even tell my boyfriend until we were  well away from there, guess I was just too shocked and I was only eighteen at the time and felt embarrassed and naively thought that people would think I was overreacting , if was now I would definitely make it as public as possible , and warn others paula09 you have definitely done the right and decent thing, thanks. I love Kalkan and always feel safe there but unfortunately wherever you go there's always the bad apples that spoil it for the rest.
