Title: Oasis Hotel part of the Tapestry collection
Post by: clarborough on February 08, 2008, 05:29:05 PM
Hi everyone just got back from Kalkan this morning after a great week furnishing our new apartment. (Onur Air proved to be great!!)  Was lucky enough to be invited to the formal opening of the Oasis Hotel yesterday by Aslan the owner. I have to say its beautiful. Its very luxurious and the attention to detail is fantastic. If I hadn''t just finally got my apartment I would be tempted to stay especially in the penthouse suites. A huge jacussi tub in the bathroom with a flat screen tv in there too and a private terrace. Anyone who is fortunate to stay will love it. I certainly got loads of decorating ideas too!!!

Was there any mention of the other new hotel that Aslan''s building - the Likya Residence?  Only artist''s impressions on the website so reluctant to book without hard evidence that this has been finished too. From the shots it seems to be near the Regency - anyone know?

We drove down to have a look and they are working hard to finish it. It is in a fantastic position as you say in front of the regency. I will check my photos I may have captured it across the bay.

Is the Oasis - the one down the Kalamar Road on the right hand side just before the yellow Grace Apartments and Gule shopping center - just before the doctor place....????

Yes on the right on the Kalimar road but didn''t notice the other buildings. (Too busy people watching all the local dignitories and the different customs when opening a new building)

The build quality of Aslan''s developments is superb. It will be nice to go and visit the Oasis when we are there in May. Might try and use some of the facilities if possible.

Good to see experienced ex Tapestry staff re-employed  by the new Tapestry Collection (VFB). Did get our money back when the original Tapestry went bust and booked the same suite at the Yali direct with Asfiya. Direct booking with villa owners has its own financial benefits - but also its uncovered risks.
Would be pleased to be kept posted on progress on the Lykia - returning to Kalkan for our sixth visit and Ruby wedding - Infinity Jewellers here we come!

And before it became a "cat hotel" it was a very nice little human hotel which over the years had had quite a lot done to it, including the building of a pool. ;)

It was a lovely hotel & I personally think the new one has ruined what was a charming building - it looks so ''Vegas'' & OTT if you know what I mean.

I agree with you Sally. We stayed there in 2002 and the owners Pamir and Tumay were the most charming, gentle people you could wish to meet. In fact all the staff were wonderful. It was lovely to sit on the roof terrace of an evening enjoying a cool G&T and those fantastic views.

Sally - yes I agree - it has got that Vegas look to it...somewhat out of place along that road....as it is one on its own - I think they can get away with it and they have obviously done that to show how the inside will follow - I just hope that other builders don''t jump on the bandwagon and stylise other buildings in this way - coz I think it will lose that turkish look... ::)

I disagree.

If by Vegas you mean comfortable and luxurious then maybe so. What I saw last Thursday was a tastefully decorated building with a mixture of European and Turksih style. There was nothing garish and over the top just lots of nice touches like seating areas and fridges etc. I have been to Vegas a couple of times and the Oasis did not remind me of those huge hotels. I think we should applaud the work that has been done to preserve a local building rather than tear down and build new.

Hi,Clarborough - I haven''t seen the inside of the Oasis at all. I was refering to the outside (which I saw last autumn). The old hotel was modest & slightly back from the road , up steps through a small garden. I was amazed at how in-your-face (imo) the outside of the new hotel looked & how they had bought it to road level. And I did not like the style of the outside brick/tile/marble work. But I also think the outside of the Asfiya is hideous. I am quite sure that the interior of the Oasis is now lovely, especially if Tapestry have had a hand.

I was in Kalkan last week and my apartment is close to the new Lykia Hotel.  There is a lot of activity going on, I strolled down and looked around and I think it will be really lovely. It has a very middle eastern feel, very grand, with huge Palms bursting from above the pillars in between the main arches. I hope it will be finished in time as their target opening date is beginning of May. Unfortunately I wasn''t able to attend the opening of the Oasis due to some serious furniture shopping however I am there early May.... maybe I can just make the Lykia''s!

I think Kalkankiki should have an award for the most concise and informative response to a post. All the information we need, no digressing and no possibility of mixed messages. You get my award anyway !!

Hi,

Does anyone have a current email address for the Oasis hotel?

Their website shows info@oasiskalkan.com but all emails are bouncing back from that??

Thanks in advance.

Belinda I think you will find that kalkankiki''s answer is correct.  She was replying to the post (from Lorretta) immediately above her reply. "Is the new Lykia hotel anything to do with the Lykia restaurant owned by Arif?"
