The ipod is full and sadly, so are the shorts, as we head for Oman for what is surely going to be a very different holiday experience. I need to keep up my Daily Diary writing, ready for Kalkan at the end of August (waiting for latest photos of the refurbished villa........and can't wait to see them.....).
Hope you come away with me; here is the link. We touch down on Easter Sunday for 15 days.....

Hope you enjoy Oman, Antler.
We went there at this time of year 3 years ago, after having been to Dubai for 10 years running. Oman is very different: much more unspoiled (but hotels still easily up to Dubai standards - we stayed in Al Husn at Shangri-La Bar El Jissah) and doesn't have that Disneyland feel of Dubai.
As with Dubai, though, expect to pay upwards of £150 for dinner for two with wine in the hotels......

Enjoy :)

Lucky, lucky, you, I'm sure it'll be a great experience and I am looking forward to your reports. Unfortunately there's no danger of us getting a tan over Easter as we are headed off to our caravan in sunny Somerset. Judging by the long range forecast it'll be more thermals and wellies than bikinis, never mind it's always fine in the pub lol! We will be looking forward to Kalkan, flying out on August bank holiday monday for seventeen nights bliss. Hope you have a great time. Cheers!

I'll be following your blog, but I believe I have found a great alternative, I came to Kalkan 15/4 and have caught the sun!! go home tomorrow for 2 weeks and back to kalkan April 6th for a week to top up the tan, then again for a holiday 2weeks end July-Aug
Writing this as I sit sipping a glass of red Majestik eating fab shrimp casserole outside at cafe vita (Mustafa sends his regards!!)

Sounds wonderful. Enjoy! We are just watching the weather forecast of snow forecast up and down the country!! Gritters out in force tonight apparently! ::) It might be March but Spring will have to wait, according to BBC News! Say hello to Mustafa from us too.

Thanks for your replies.
The UK forecast does not look nice, even if the snow this weekend does not last long.
Booking Monty into the kennels for our 17 days away was horrible. But he will have some fun chasing other labs around the field....
It may be hard for us not to get a tan in Oman, as it looks like being 30C during the day, dropping to 23C at night. We are 80 metres from the beach, which is white sand and no beds. Just a few trees. I would be surprised if there were more than ten of us on it, from what I hear.....
We will see some more of the country, outside of Muscat - the incredible light and colour from so little polution.
Hope I can capture it all in my blog for you to share.
Take care,
Antler

Sounds a great trip Antler. Have a wonderful time but don't get too tanned! My sister has just come back and had a fabulous holiday. Enjoy.

How is that for a holiday weather forecast?!
Just checking-in on line.....
And great news re Kalkan!
Looks like Bex & Tom are getting their holidays approved, so the whole family + partners should be there.
Dinner for 8 by the pool.
Life's good!

Have a wonderful holiday Antler. I will be following your blog on trip adviser. You have my sympathy about having to leave your dog behind. This year will be a first for us having to leave our puppy when we go to Kalkan.
Sorry we will miss you this year in Kalkan.

Great news that you will all be in Kalkan together in August....getting my pencil sharpened, at the ready, to jot down your recipes which I imagine will come thick and fast during your stay.
Enjoy Oman, it looks fabulous :)

Thank you, tortoiselady and K4E.....much appreciated comments.
Have just enjoyed my first pint in Oman, at the poolside bar, the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Muscat, over-looking their private beach - which was swarming with......4 people.
