Hi All,
We''ve finally booked our wedding in Kalkan ;D
I wonder if anyone can help with some information about where I could get a wedding cake in the town? Also are there any florists in Kalkan.
Any help much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi mangmang,
Firstly, congratulations!
There is a very good cake shop just past the Alternatif Atlantis restaurant on the Kalamar road. We ordered a birthday cake from there and it was delicious. I am sorry but I can''t remember the name of it. Also you could try asking at the Merkez, they may be able to help.
Good luck!

Hi & congratulations ;
There are a couple of cake shops, the small coffee along the Kalkamar Rd situated just below the footpath in the corner along from the Atlantis, the Merkez can arrange one for you & oh the Nur coffee shop op posit Omars on the market road.
As for a florist, the one that was situated by the Breeze I think has now gone, but ask one of the locals they should be able to help, better still try the Kalkan Concierge Shirley Burley has mentioned before, at least I think that''s what they are call, look under baby/travel cot required,
Good luck and have a wonderful day - where is this all going to take place?

If I remember rightly, there''s a florist on the road down the side of the Nur cake shop. Sorry, I can''t remember the name of it.....

Kalkan concierge are able to handle every aspect of a wedding with wonderful efficiency. Having lived here for years we are getting married here in May and have handed everything over to Jo at Kalkan Concierge. No stress, no fuss, we will just turn up on the day.

Thanks for all your replies, it looks like we''ll be able to sort something out for the cake. I''m not sure about having flowers, but I just wondered what was available.
We do have a wedding planner, Hayal, but as I''m off work at the moment I thought I''d make some enquiries.

It is often hard to spot Florists in Turkey, as they "disguise" themselves as artificial flower sellers!!! The clue is to look for the chest freezers, that''s where they keep the real flowers fresh.

Thanks for all the good wishes. It is possible we may have been here just a little too long and taken this whole laid back business to the extreme. As of today, we have no venue, no date and most important of all, I have absolutely nothing to wear. But this is Kalkan, who plans in advance here?
When we have sorted out some of these trivial details, we will post them on Enjoy Kalkan and any forum reader who is in Kalkan at the time, will be most welcome to attend.

Carol, what''s wrong with flowers from your own garden. If your pictures are anything to go by you will have a beautiful bouquet. All the best and keep us up to date so we can enjoy the preparations albeit from afar.

Think I might come and hide in Kalkan, my daughter gets married in December and we have been running around like headless chickens since Jan sorting things out with no let up in sight. I am having to run away to the french alps next week to leave it behind, then roll on Turkey in the Summer. A lot to be said for the laid back approch.

Indeed there is, holiday fever!
Mr B and I decide to get married...and did so at the local town hall one Saturday morning in June 2006.
We then took off to Kalkan for a fortnight of sunshine and relaxation....pausing only to email and phone our friends and family to tell them of our good news!!!
We dealt with the fall out on our return, but by then the families had got over the shock and we''d had the time of our lives and, most importantly, the wedding we wanted...just us two and our two friends to witness it.
Lovely!!! :)

What a lovely & simple & unstressed way to marry.

I couldn''t agree more! My (new) husband Cenk and I were married in Antalya on New Years Eve and partied all night at Aubergine and various bars in Kalkan! Yes, there was some ''family fallout'' but we both had a brilliant unstressed ''us'' day. Wonderful.
-
Many congratulations to you both....best wishes for a very happy life together in Kalkan!
-
Congratulations.......My eldest son has just got engaged, and I would give anything for them to get married in Kalkan. How lucky are you!!!
