Does a UK Sky Box and card work in Kalkan?

Hi Frank,
I think it may be technically possible to do what you are asking. However, there are 2 stumbling blocks. You will need a pretty big dish to receive any sky signal. And if you are hoping to watch BBc, ITV etc. I think (though others may correct me) that will be almost impossible. The Astra 2d beam through which this is channeled is quite narrow. Signal charts here: http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/sky_abroad.htm
The second point is that you will be contravening Sky's T&C's. The card provided to the UK is for use solely in the UK. You may think it worth the gamble, but there is evidence in online forums of people having their accounts terminated. Though I think it's difficult for Sky to discover.
A perfect way of receiving all Sky services, including recording and watching your recorded programs on your UK Sky box is via a slingbox; and if you dont want the hassle of connecting a laptop to the tv a slingcatcher in Turkey (they dont make the latter any more but plenty on ebay).
This does involve some capital outlay and an ongoing internet connection both ends, but the results are pretty good. PM me if you want more info.

We looked at getting uk tv available at our villa this year, we wanted a solution using a set-top box in kalkan rather than a laptop, the slingbox system would require finding a 'catcher' (discontinued) to be installed in the villa. As an alternative I found the monsoon vulcano http://www.myvulkano.com/ (http://www.myvulkano.com/), I have been testing this setup over the last few months and have had a few small problems (may be my fault!) but overall very successful. I have to say it isn't plug and go.. you need to configure the system which requires a basic understanding of networks, routers etc.  but the average xbox playing 15yr old should be able to help! requires a 'spare' set top box (and any required subscription) in the uk (can work with freeview or any other set top box) and a box in the villa, these are connected by wifi (or wired) via your router to high speed internet at both ends.
