Went out for dinner last night with my family. My mother and her husband have both been here before, we tried a restaurant just inside the town called 'Alternatif' and we all ordered a steak, after reading on this forum that it was the best steak in Kalkan, we decided to try it out and i can say that it was not only the best steak in Kalkan but the best steak i have ever eaten. The waiters were funny and very friendly. We had a lot of fun and Urgun, one of the waiters, made it and especially pleasant evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant, the food was delicious and the restaurant itself was lively and very comfortable.

I ate at Alternatif a few days ago - my second fillet steak of my visit to date. I was dining on my own and sometimes I think the waiters don't know quite how to deal with solo diners. Anyway everyone was perfectly pleasant but they brought me the wrong wine (white when I'd ordered rose) and the wrong starter (aubergine salad when I'd asked for fried aubergine). Then they gave me free meze, which rather foolishly I ate most of even though the pre-prepared plates are designed for two to share, hence by the time my steak arrived I was almost incapable of movement! I had a tiny bit and then I confess I stuck the rest in between slices of bread, wrapped it in serviettes and took it back for the villa cats :D They tell me it was the second best steak they've had ;D
