Does Kalkan need promotion to other countries?
« on: November 20, 2011, 10:11:37 AM »
Hi All,

I put this in politics and debate as no doubt it may "flare" opinion although this is not the intention....... Whilst working on EK for 2012 it got me thinking..... is Kalkan too focused towards the UK?

What do you think? Should extra effort be put in to promote Kalkan to other nationalities or has Kalkan now gone too far down the road of a mainly UK tourism and property ownership audience?

Promotion by whom???
If Kalkan feels it needs to be promoted to a wider audience then should this not be done by the Turkish tourism bods?
I certainly don't think it's a role for EK to take on if that's what you're getting at.
Just my opinion.

As an American living in Kalkan -- and probably the only fairly regular non-British poster -- I don't think the effort would be too successful unless it were multi-lingual.  Russian, French and some Scandinavian language.  The other Americans who own or come to Kalkan in general with one exception don't post or read messages.  French friends likewise do not read or post here not because of the language but because it is predominately British in tone and topic.  Other nationalities come to the forum for advice on where to stay and how to purchase.  After that they don't usually frequent the forum.

Does Kalkan really need any more promoting, even to other nationalities, just walking about the town & listening to people talking indicates that there are plenty from other countries who are fully aware of where it is etc.  Watch the campa vans driving around/pitching & look at the index plates to see where they come from, that 's good indication also.  Our world is getting smaller !!!!!

Kalkan may have been some years ago 'Turkeys Best Kept Secret' don't really think so now.
