Im thinking about visiting a Turkish baths/spa whilst in kalkan...can any one give me some advice on...

Are they like English spas. where you can get 'treatments' face packs, pedicures etc or just a massage?

Whilst in Egypt last time, my husband went to get a haircut and he was pampered and coddled and generally came away looking 15 years younger after the hair cut, shave, face mask and threading (!!!)... is this more the thing the Turkish baths offer??

Where is the best spa/Turkish bath and can anyone give me a rough idea of prices??

Thanking you all again for any help in this area?
Regards
Iminei

Hi Iminei
You will really enjoy the experience of a Turkish bath. We had one in Fethiye last year - but I hear that the one at La Sera is really good. it is on the Kalamar Road, just before you get to Cafe Vita, but on the other side of the road.
They have a web site - if you google La Sera Kalkan, it will come up. They do lots of great treatments in addition to the Turkish Bath, but I'm not sure your husband will get a shave there.
Try to go during the first few days of your stay, as the treatment involves quite an intensive scrub, it's a fantastic way to get your skin in great condition for a tan! but if you've already got a base tan, the scrub may well remove some of it ...
I would suggest you book as they are quite popular. I have already e mailed and booked for the first day of my holiday in October. Not on my usual computer this evening or I'd pass the details on to you... It's about 90TL per person for the Turkish Bath treatment - a bit more than we paid on Fethiye, but it's well worth it, and it's a great experience!
Enjoy, let us know what you think when you come home...

I can highly recommend the Atlantis Wellbeing which is situated on the left hand side of Yali supermarket. Two hours of pampering including Turkish bath, face mask, and full body massage for 80 liras.  Felt like I was floating on air afterwards!

Oh I'm in tears of laughter. Joan H posted this link a while ago, please don't let it put you off a Turkish Bath treatment - description is way over the top, but it really is very well written ... this is what Joan said ... she's prone to understatement, methinks. Thanks Joan!

OMG!!!!

that's is simply so brilliantly written....

Can someone please (please) tell me it isn't true?!

now I'm in two minds....Aaaagghhh!

Take the less sane one to Turkey???? ( >:D )

so guys...which Hammam in Kalkan do you recommend??

(I'm assuming Billfredo went to a really hardcore one in Istanbul...somewhere you get sent for motoring offences and the like??!)

I'm sure it's not (entirely) true, but as in all great comedy there has to be some truth ... the hammam i went to in Fethiye was (apparently) traditional and I can vouch for the tea towel attire of attendants, serious scrub, bubbles from olive oil soap, a strange pillow case foam massage and hair washing ... cant speak for the slapping (!), and sensibly wore swimmies so no nasty surprises. Husband a little disconcerted with it all but he felt great afterward!
Both the baths mentioned here, Atlantis and LaSera, appear to be less traditional as far as I can make out, which will probably mean that it will be more pamper - full! ;)
I haven't been to either, the prices and treatments seem very similar. I booked LaSera after reading the rave reviews on here and realised that it's at the end of our road, so a short stagger home after treatment.
Expect more reviews as people sign on over the weekend ...
it'll be fab!
