Places to visit beyond Kas
« on: April 13, 2009, 07:22:13 PM »
Can anyone recommend places to visit after Kas (not going as far as Antalya) maybe for a day trip out? We have been to Kas many times but not ventured further on.

Thanks

Julie

We went to Myra in December and the ruins were fantastic there. We also drove to Gombe via Kas and the route up to it was spectacular, you can come back via Sutlegan which is also great and a bit faster for the return journey
.
The strolling group went to Arycanda recently and they said that was really interesting.

Hope that helps

You can drive to Kekova and rent a boat to take you out for as short or long a trip as you would like.  It will take you to see the sunken city as well as to Simena. Very beautiful and you can have a leasurely lunch on Simena and climb to the top to see the castle.  The views looking down are stunning - it''s actually part of the mainland but you can only get there by boat.

From what I can remember it''s probably half an hour on the main road past Kas and then a turning off on the right, down a winding road for about 8km.  The turkish delight there is really yummy and much cheaper than anywhere locally.

Olympos is well worth a visit. Stunning scenery. About an hour and a half from Kalkan so can be done in a day.
Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.
