Entry Visa

First time post so sorry not very exciting!  I last travelled from the UK to Turkey 6 years ago and needed a £10 note on arrival (nothing else would do, not even 2 x £5! )  Therefore I was wondering is this still the case or has it gone up?  If so do they require specific denominations again? Thanks in advance x (Kalkan this Sunday for the first time - can't wait !!

Same as last time apparently - must be a £10 note but I think you can pay in euros someone said.

 Anyone know why it has to be an English £10 note as they don`t accept Scottish notes!!!

Paul. I think you answered your own question, because they don't accept Scottish ones, they also don't accept tatty English ones, needs to be crisp.

Im June we handed over 2 £5s and a £20 for the three of us without any problem.

You can also pay in Euros or Dollars, but both cost more than than £10, I think this is because the exchange rate was set years ago when the £ was worth quite a bit more than it is today.

 Hi everyone. On the question of re-entry. My wife and daughter+ me of course.are going
to Kalkan 16/07/12 for 1 week, we will be returning 13/08/12 for 2 weeks (lucky me)
Under the new rules on visas will we still be able to enter Turkey on our visa from July as we always have before as it still comes within the 90 days. A bit confused on new rules.

As kevincat99 says, we did exactly that - straight to passport control.  No problems at all.
For the first time in all the years we've been visiting, there were only around half a dozen people queuing for a visa!

Does the re-renty system work for 90 days from the date of the original entry or when you left?
Have I explained that correctly.....we arrived on 27 June and left 7 July and then we are visiting Istanbul on 2 October.....will we have to get a new vias

Babs I think you may have misunderstood the rules (or perhaps I misunderstood your post?)
the 90 days is the total number of days you can be in Turkey during the 180days that your visa lasts for, you can leave and re-enter as many times as you like as long as the total number of days in Turkey, during a 180 day period, is 90 or less. The only time you would have to stay out of Turkey for 90 days is if you entered bought a 90/180visa and stayed for 90days, you then can't re-enter for the next 90days.. 
So you will not need a new visa.

When I read that sentence I couldn't quite make sense of it. (Too early in the morning I expect.) So, I hope you won't mind Hobbo if I add to it, to clarify the position.

The only time you would have to stay out of Turkey for 90 days is if you entered, bought a 90/180visa and stayed for the full 90 days from the day of entry. You then can't re-enter for the next 90days. ( i.e. The balance of the 180 days.)

Has everyone read the KTLN article last Thursday.
It seems that if you want to re-enter Turkey a week before the 180 day limit with a view to staying fot 2 weeks or more, the immigration personel at Dalaman are happy to allow you in if you purchase a new visa, even though you still have a week to go on your old visa.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who tries his. Persoinally, I am too chicken.

Sounds good doesn't it - however why go to all the trouble of changing the system if they allow this to happen

I for one don't think it will happen as when it was a 3 month Visa people were fined if they turned up at the airport having overstayed - so why be different now

One thing that the Turks are, are very good at systems which monitor things - if you are stopped in a car at a police check and you hand over the car documents, they immediately know if the car is yours , does it have a valid MOT, insurance etc...

The entry / exit points into / exiting the country will be no different I would assume and if there id revenue to be made from fines etc ......say no more

The only question I had outstanding on the visas was just the one answered by the latest KTLN update. It surely can only work like that. i.e. a traveller can purchase a new visa if their stay overlaps the end of the previous visa. I say this because those on a package holiday would run in to no end of problems (If they decided to come to Turkey twice in a year and their second stay overlapped the 180th day). Who would be checking this otherwise? The tourist, the travel agent?  I doubt either would.

An interesting point but here in Turkey the Turkish authorities always assume that you know the law....no-one ever rushes to tell you about anything and you find out such things by trial and error, local gossip etc

Ignorance is never and excuse here as hard and unfair as it may seem
 
If it starts to happen as you suggest the tour companies will surely start making people aware as they won't want people stranded on thr tarmac at Dalaman

But it will only become apparent after 29th July ...we all wait and see
