Dolmus service
« on: November 04, 2010, 04:28:53 PM »
Interested to read about this new minibus service.  It is just what we have needed for Kalamar Bay residents.  Does anybody know how far into Kalamar Bay the minibus goes (Cafe Vita, Xanthos Hotel, Beach Club)? The route would be nice to know.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark
The route for the bus service starts just below the xanthos hotel, you can stop it anywhere on route.
Like you say this is just what Kalamar needed and it was a God send during the hot summer months!!!

I want to know what happened to the service or if the route changed - we kept waiting for it at Club Patara based on the KTLN time table and it never appeared - even the security guards said it wasnt running  :(

So, if anyone did manage to catch it please let me know!!

Thanks for that.  Xanthos should be fairly easy for most people to get to/from.

I look forward to trying it next month.

Hi Mark......

The actual start place in Kalamar Bay for the Dolmus is about 50 metres from the Kulube and at the junction where you either go straight on to Kulube or turn up the steep hill.

Id still take enough money for a taxi with you - we have been stood at Club Patara at 20:00 with no bus passing and security saying it doesnt run that late!

Kalamar Bay

Thanks for adding that bit - makes it even closer to me as my place is on Yildiz Sokak part way up the 'steep hill.

I doubt I will use the dolmus much from Kalamar Bay as I love the walk into town, but coming back with shopping will be a lot easier.

We were in Kalkan all of October.

Waited for the Dolmus 8 times getting there 10 minutes before it was due and it only turned up twice.

In and around the village we often spotted it passing 5 or 10 minutes before it should have done.

Whilst this service is very welcome it is only useful if it is regular and on time.

Lets hope they can get it right.

Re The Kalkan dolmus not running on time....... Do any Of the Dolmus in Turkey run to a timetable ?
I thought they just run a route back and forth and you just jump on and off when you want.
Its Turkey......Its a Dolmus......not London.......And not the hyde park circular service, they have not been going long, give them a chance,if anyone has a problem, hey, have a word, after all it looks like this service is for the visitors and not aimed at the locals.
EFES TIME AGAIN !

The big problem with this forum is that nobody can make a genuine observation without somebody else getting on their high horse.

We did give the dolmus a chance hence we waited for it 8 times.

It isn't supposed to just run up and down. If it was, you could allow for that.

They publish a timetable which states it leaves Kalamar on the hour.

Whether you are in Turkey Twickenham or Timbuktu, a tourist or a local, a timetable is only useful if it is kept to and indeed no use whatsoever if the bus doesn't turn up at all.

Full marks to KTT for setting this up, but as I said in my original post, lets hope they can make it work.

Thanks to all who have provided a response to my query based upon their experience.  I will try to provide feedback as to my experience later this year and next season.

I have no idea what time or route it takes in Kisla but I do know that it leaves Kalamar on time every day on the hour.

It is a great service for 1.5TL. Used it all summer from the Kalamar end...always on time...only once couldn't get on as it was full...

It seems like most people who used the dolmus have no problems  " always on time from Kisla " .." used it all summer from Kalamar, always on time ".....maybe some people are standing at the wrong stop or havent changed their watch to turkey time.....  ::)
