Newly weds first time in Kalkan
« on: August 05, 2013, 01:50:44 PM »
Hello forum,

We'll be in Kalkan for the first time next week for our honeymoon, and can't wait!  The forums been great for learning bits of information you can't really get from elsewhere.

I stumbled across the resort through an article on the Guardian site and ended up booking through Exclusive Escapes.  Staying in a little villa that's up on a hill somewhere, so hopefully not too far away from town.

I was going to ask about the best places to eat but the general consensus seems to be that everywhere is good? The only slight snag is there's no duty free from where we're flying to can anyone recommend the best place to get some beer and wine, or are we best just to visit the bars? (we're not alcoholics or anything - honest!  ;D)

Cheers
Phil

Hi philandanna.
Welcome to the forum and good choice in picking Kalkan.
Yes, you will be spoilt for choice restaurant wise so just follow your nose and call in on any you like the look of. You may have to book for the night after in some however.
Regarding alcohol, you will find beers, spirits and wines in virtually all supermarkets and I'd shop around for the best deal or what's most convenient for you, as the prices between supermarkets do vary.  :)

What she said!

Plus... if you do book one in advance, you could try letting them know you are newlyweds.... you never know... might result in special treatment ;) Not that there is anything wrong with "normal" treatment... far from it :)

There is also a duty free when you arrive so you may be able to pick up some spirits from there.

You may be able to get Duty Free on the plane....?
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Cheers for the replies    8)

From what I've read in our little info pack, there's no duty free available as we don't fly from the main terminal, and I think the drinks on the flight are just complementary ones.

The duty free on arrival sounds like a plan though, thanks!
