New kids on the block

Hi there Kalkan lovers
We are pretty new to the Kalkan scene, only spending our first holiday there just 2 years ago.  We returned last year as we instantly fell in love with the beautiful place.  On our last day on holiday we ended up viewing an apartment - just out of interest - and voila! Here we are as our first year of owners! Probably not the best year to buy but luckily for us, we have pretty much booked out our apartment for the whole of the summer.   ;D

We arrive on Saturday (the first of 3 trips this year!) and looking to explore the place a bit more. Any recommendations around the Kalamar side? We are pretty much half way between Kalamar and the Old Town but have never ventured anywhere apart from the Old Town!

Any recommendations great fully received.

Love this forum and have found it really helpful so far!  Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum Sezkalkan, you have definitely chosen a beautiful place to buy an apartment, there are so many wonderful places to visit and people to meet.  You obviously felt at home on visiting Kalkan, to have bought an apartment, funnily enough that is exactly what happened to us on our 2nd visit! Lucky you going out for 3 holidays this year, am sure you'll get a good feel of Kalkan's wonderful atmosphere.  Feel free to ask any questions on this Forum, everyone will be more than happy to help if they can.

Hi Sezkalkan,

Congratulations on your purchase and well done with the rentals, we purchased at the end of 2014 after five holidays in Kalkan and had four stays last year, can't give any advice re kalamar area as we also stick mainly to the town and the main drag (Sehitler Cadessi) we will be in Kalkan in two weeks my second visit this year and my wifes first one of the year.

Best Wishes,
Stuart

Congrats
Wish we had bought on our 2nd visit (back in 1993...) took us until 2011.
Our villa is along the Kalamar rd very close to Yelken Bistro, other places in the same area are Cafe Vita, Aqua, Olive Garden (restaurant attached to Ekinhan Hotel), the Brothers, the Elixir hotel etc.. great little area you have chosen well.

We also arrive on Sat for the week .
I have a very responsible position...
When anything goes wrong I’m responsible!!

Thank you. Oooh you really should buy - I understand it's a buyers market at the moment - unlike when we bought!
Enjoy your time in September with your little one!

If you do decide to go ahead and buy you need to be careful not to overpay, its been a buyers market in Kalkan for several years now. Unless it's a money no object purchase you really need a trusted Turkish friend who can advise you about the true value of properties you are considering.

We sold our first place in 2014, after marketing it for 3 years with not much interest bar a few offers of around 50-70% of the asking price. We eventually got a reasonable offer but I think we were very lucky it sold when it did as things are so much worse now.
