I have taken the plunge

Hi everyone.  I have taken the plunge and registered.  I, like so many of you, love Kalkan.  I used to be the type of person who didn't holiday in the same place twice.  That was until I visited Kalkan.  What is it about that place?  The restaurant, cafe, bar owners are all so welcoming and friendly even if you don't visit their establishment, they like to say hello and have a chat.  The visitors are all so friendly too.  The views are to die for.  As so many people say, it's paradise. 

Now I have registered I an voice some of the thinks I have been thinking when I have been reading the posts on here so I found the website.

Hi Jo! I know exactly what you mean about Kalkan. We've been twice in 2006 & 2007 and loved it so much. Everything about it is perfect for us. But we also don't like to go back to the same place every year, so we tried Kas in 2008 (nice but not as many fab restaurants) and Yalikavak in 2009 (not in the same league). This year I put my foot down with my hubbie and said we either go to Kalkan or nowhere!! Seven weeks to go until we are sipping Efes and enjoying my favourite view.   When are you there next?

Hi MightyAphrodite.  We arrive late on 24 Aug, which sounds like 2 weeks after you, as I am counting down and its 9 weeks for us.  Which view in particular are you thinking of?  For me its the uninterrupted view of the two islands from either the harbour wall, or Baharat terrace or the road leading up from the dual carriageway.  Are you staying in a hotel or have you booked an apartment?    Jo

We're there from 14th - 28th August, so a bit of an overlap of our dates! We are staying at the Pirat (for the third time). We like being down by the harbour. That's the view I love - we book direct with the hotel so we can make sure we get rooms on the front overlooking the pool and the harbour. Love watching the boats coming & going.
Also love the Kalamar Beach Club - different view and my fave place to snorkel. It's 5 years since we were there last so I'm sure lots has changed, but hopefully it's still the same slice of Paradise we remember.

Hi everyone. We are staying at samira gardens from 3 until 31 august so if you want to meet for a drink let us know. We already are having 2 ek forum gatherings 7 and 11th but you are not there then. Exciting isn't it counting down the days. 41 for us

Hope you are able to make our meet ups on 7th and 11th August?  7th is at Kleo and 11th at Dionysia roof terrace? both around 7pm.  We are so looking forward to meeting fellow Kalkan lovers.

Hi MightyAphrodite, how about Sunday 26th for a drink around 7pm.  Where are you staying, have you any preference where to go? We are staying at the Samira Gardens which has a really nice bar at the front, if you fancy there.  If anyone else fancies joining us let us know.

Hi B & J . That sounds like a great plan. There are 5 of us in our group - me and my hubbie, his Mum & Dad and our Boy who is 15 so I will have to check that everyone is up for it, but I'm sure it will be OK . Anyone else who fancies it? Would be cool to put faces to names!!

Hi Jo Of course you are welcome! You'll be just starting your hols as we finish ours. 26th is our last proper full night as we will be leaving around midnight on 27th/28th. Be good to do a bit of socialising to take my mind off going home!

Hi Joeyloveskalkan, we're also arriving 24th August (from Manchester Airport) and on the same flight for the same holiday (purely by chance) are friends we met in Kalkan 3 years ago. Maybe see you there?

Thank you for inviting us B and J, that is really kind to think of us.   We go back on 27th so it will be our last night.  I think we will play it by ear at this point but may well come along for a swift cocktail at the Pirat before moving on for our last night romantic meal (she says, living in hope!).  Just can't wait now - if you have only 41 days then we have only 44!
