fake watch. help please
« on: August 09, 2012, 12:21:39 PM »
I bought a fake Tag heuer for £90 for my son (last week). I got in from a shop on the left hand side of a steep street on the way to the habour. It was either in the same street as Belgins restaurant of one parallel.  The watch stopped working within 1 day.  I was hoping I could maybe contact the owner and see if he can replace .  I have no receipt.
Does anyone no the detailsof this shop
Thanks

I presume that you are no longer in Kalkan. I have purchased 2 watches from that shop and have had no problem with either of them, but I am sure if you returned them he would replace. Why don't you ask if someone would take the watch back for you?

KTLN have a business directory on their site listing over a 100 of the shops, with location, phone numbers email etc etc.
might be worth looking on there.
I have a very responsible position...
When anything goes wrong I’m responsible!!

I can't believe you paid £90 for a fake watch..these are brought in from China and the seller will have paid no more than £10 tops......As its Chinese the quality will be rubbish.....sorry but you get all you deserve paying that sort of money for counterfeit goods.j

Hate to disagree - we have bought a couple of fake watches from Oscar Watch - my husband is still wearing his five years later - I dont believe in paying top wack just for a "Designer Name" with a designer price- if I like a product I will buy it - if it is cheap or expensive so be it.  We also have good quality watches which we have paid a lot of money for - one of these was sent back whilst still under warranty in the UK! - purchased in the UK,  but probably imported just the same.  In answer to the original query, sorry I dont know the name of the shop you have posted about.

Could it be Image watches and sunglasses? If you look on the KTLN business map it is towards the top of one of the streets leading down top the harbour.

Thanks everyone. I think it is image as they did have a sunglasses shop next door. Unfortuntely it is a kinetic watch so battery won't help.
I have shown the watch to a uk watchsmith who said it was a good quality replica. Just unlucky it broke I think. Moral of story is don't buy a watch a few hours before you go home.
And Misty I could not afford the 2000 plus euros such a genuine artical would cost.

Two morals avoid buying fake watches as they are rubbish and if you must buy one don't buy a mechanical version as the quality of the movements is poor on a good day....Oscars watches are complete rubbish no better than the stuff sold in the markets only a lot more money....

What proof do you have to substantiate that comment Misty? - as I said earlier we have bought several and one is still going strong after five years - more than can be said for the Omega bought in this country at a reputable Jewellers which broke down after 9 months!

My husband has bought 3 copy (not fake  >:D) watches from Kalkan....from the shop with the sunglasses shop next door...he buys them because he likes them and they are relatively cheap compared with watches of the same quality in this country. They tend to last about 18 months before the battery runs out and to be honest I find the service in the shop great.....looking forward to seeing my daughter's face when she gets her "Chanel" for her birthday!

Have to agree with Babs, my OH has also bought watches from this shop and is happy if he gets a couple of years out of them.He knows what he's getting for his money and he's better off buying the 'genuine fakes' as he is so accident prone with watches!! Although if we won the lottery an Omega seamaster would be top of his list, genuine of course!!!

Just sold two nice Seamasters..let me know if you are looking for one. I buy and sell high end watches as a hobby and as a means of being able to always have a nice watch on my wrist and regularly change it...As watches are a passion of mine I think I know enough about the quality of fakes.. I've seen enough people ripped off not by the types of fakes sold in Kalkan but on web sites..the sellers will also buy the box sets and certificates and dupe unsuspecting people...not everyone can spot a fake..although I have yet to see one yet I cant tell its fake without even picking it up....trust me the ones in Kalkan are the worst of the worst......
