Just got frantic phone call from my son who like us is off to Kalkan tomorrow. He knows that our Scottish banknotes aren't accepted so went to an HSBC cashpoint in Glasgow which has just dished out around £100 in Bank of England £5 notes. Maybe a strange question but will they be accepted in Kalkan? In all the years of visiting I've never noticed "fivers"

No we haven't either. We always take ten and twenty pound notes. Not sure if they will be accepted or not.

I think they must be as I have paid for car hire/transfers and there have been £5 notes in there and they have always been accepted. Presumably they can change them at the bank or they would refuse them.

We are in Kalkan at the moment(hope to see you)and I used a Bank of England fiver a couple of days ago with no problems.
